I had an idea that suggested that when you scan for planets, you have a chance to randomly scan a planet owned by an NPC's faction. It would have 3 NPC guards on that planet. You can use unstable wormhole emitters and gain green badges from invading these planets. Any comments on the idea?

As long as its not apart of the invade timer this is a good idea, specially if there are artifacts or special buildings to be had.

Already thought of and i still say +1 have a look > viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19529&p=177391&hilit=Npc+controlled+planets#p177391And btw u shouldn't be able to use unstable wormhole emitters on the npc guards, u would need to disable em.

Same, I suggested this over a year ago, I still love the idea and would love to see it implemented.

Being able to use any arti's on an npc owned planet kind of defeats the purpose and any possible challenge. The idea can of course be expanded to not just 3 npc's per planet, depending on the quality of the planet the number or strength of the npc's could change accordingly.

a) Definitely should not be apart of the usual invade timer, and award a green badge b) Should be difficult to invade, maybe by adding passive att or def c) Should have guarding NPC (you should be able to use unstable wormholes on ordinary ones, there could be elite guards, immune to wormholes) d) They could have some non-researchable structures (i.e., sha'din hypergrid network, interrogation stronghold, even storage structures if the planet was really difficult to take or to scan for its passive stats)

What if the guards were either common or uncommon, i.e. (stryll) 1 Stryll assassin, 1 stryll trapper and 1 stryll desolater, if pop gets below 10, they can be targeted as an npc, or you can find them in your npc bt, and of you disable an assassin, a trapper and a desolater, the guards are gone

Maybe new planet types that belong to a specific NPC factions?
Stryll Order - Stronghold Planets The Drannik Automatons - Automated Planets Lazuli Syndicate - Industrial Planets etc.
Maybe for each of the guards (standard or matched), a 60% chance for common NPC guard, 30% chance for uncommon NPC guard, and 10% chance for rare NPC guard (only those factions that actually have rare NPCs, matched or rank range).
