Maybe they should take extra energy (or credits?) to make operational again, depending on how long they've been abandoned, but they ought to still be there nonetheless.
In real life, abandoned cars are recovered and sold at government auctions all the time (though they may take extra energy to get working again, they are often in great working order anyway.)
Same for abandoned buildings; they are often rehabilitated and used for practical everyday purposes again.
Why can't the same happen for the structures of the planets we abandon?

if not...too easily abused Perhaps a now-or-never pop-up could be in order: Ask if you'd like to pay some kind of surcharge to also reactivate the artifacts. Depending on how sophisticated said artifacts are, their reactivation fees would vary.

if not...too easily abused nah, if it's for "abuse", it can be done even now...(just a tad bit more complex) so tbh, it doesn't really add any new abuse~

I think he meant to include analysier effect which I would disagree with(unlike structure) because while structure can be abused/traded right now, those can't(at least not easily by any means) so~

It's hard to say; on one hand I want to agree as it seems to make sense, on the other hand this game mechanic works as stands.
The thought has crossed my mind before but never felt like a "great" suggestion though I could never put my finger on why I have that impression.
So I'm willing to be swayed one way or the other.

Last week I found an unoccupied 16x mining VL toxic. When I colonised, I found 2 Tri-phases, an Anti-matter drill and a couple +12's. I think it belonged to a banned player (a high up one at that, it had the best cloak structures on it)
