I was thinking for a bit and I came up with an idea that I really like. Would it be possible to play the game using a keyboard? For example, if you are view someone and you want to attack them, you can press "A" or for switching tabs, use numbers: 1 for news, 2 for ship, 3 for planets etc. I think it's a good idea, it means you can get things done quicker. I think it can be a little frustrating at times when you are trying to navigate...

I don't really see the point -1.

Well, there is not much of a point. I just think it'll make it a little more user friendly. I'm not much of a touch typer so I am constantly looking at the keyboard. I think it'd be nice to have "shortcuts" Hence the keyboard. I like shortcuts. :)

the point is that it makes GL more accessible, especially when you don't have a mouse at the moment. This idea gets a thumbs up from me. Sometimes my mouse would just stop working and i'd have to wait a while until it works again. On extreme cases i would have to reboot my system for it to work.

I knew that, touchscreen computers are complicated. And i would constantly have to recalibrate it. And sometimes when i touch the screen nothing happens.

Touchscreen computers are a new thing right?

Yeah, but quite expensive... Plus they are all in one and not easily up-gradable... I like to upgrade my PC every 6 months... Plus the cost of repairs, you couldn't do it on your own... I like a monitor and a PC not a mac style thing...

Eh? Apple don't make PC's. They make overpriced, useless junk.

Very funny, actually apples are pretty sweet, nicely laid out interface, relatively simple to use, very good virus protection.

But let's face it at some point someone doubled the price tags without anyone knowing lol.

Indeed!

I like the Mac Pro's but I can get a same performing PC for a tenth of the price... Like, they're charging over £2000 for 64GB of RAM. That's insane... I could get 128GB for that! Not that I'd need it all...

The only thing I find good about them is the looks. I also need a Mac OS for some software that isn't available on windows...
Still WAY overpriced though...

Yup not very good with computers RAM is internal memory?

Post subject:  Re: Using Keyboard

Sort of, it's where the CPU stores data that it is working with. Everything stored here is only temporary. When RAM loses power, it also loses it's data. That's what your hard drive is for. It stores things for as long as you want.

RAM = Random Access Memory - Stores temporary data related to processes which the computer is currently processing. (x.x) It then kills it off. Anything else is saved to the harddrive, or an external storage device.

Now that I have confused some of you even more I will leave.

My laptop is only 2GB. It's enough for HW and stuff.

as someone who can produce an APM of 150+ and sustain it over long periods of time, i would love keyboard shortcuts

i could burn through a npc run in almost no time which is why i could see dan not liking this

btw, if you press ESC it will close the npc popup attack screen but it won't refresh the page (its the same as clicking outside the window to close it)

thanks for pointing this out! :)

hah ! so the ESC key is a keyboard shortcut ?? dan provides all !

i would also support the limited use of keyboard shortcuts - maybe dan can make them easter eggs ? like, on a crappy planet screen, hitting the pU combo would purge the planet if you have a purger available ?

a similar 'combo' shortcut would be nice to navigate between tabs, but you would probably still need to navigate the page with a mouse.

the only other 'easy' thing might be to have to arrow keys work on the multi-page ship module / planet / artis / BT areas.
