Ok, I just want to throw this idea out and see if it sticks to anything. It's been discussed to death that artifact drops aren't what they used to be. Not having been around for the original drop rates, I can't attest to anything. However, it's my impression that the older players have a significant advantage in planet development because of it.
Now I understand the overall purpose of this game is to provide Dan with abit of income, he deserves to be paid for his hard work. Therefore it's my suggestion that he create a higher level of account. For X amount of galaxy points you would have access to the original drop rates for 30 days. There wouldn't be any exclusive artifacts that are GP only, like the weather controller for example. It could function like an artifact itself, but one that couldn't be scrubbed off with a containment missile or the like.
On a related note, it would be a nice touch of you changed the Buy Artifacts list so that it showed what the artifact point value of each item is, and a big N/A to show us which are GP-only.

Although I don't pay for anything, this is a good idea. A premium account would probably get: increased chances of uncommon & rare NPCs increased chances of rare artifacts from AP decreased chances of mission failure and crew death in missions

No, it was agreed long ago that there would be no permanent upgrades gained through GP, this would go against that.

Still no, I think that any bonus that would be useful enough for someone to be willing to pay for that would last a month would be a too powerful boost to an already overpowered (when looked in comparison to non-payers) group of people.

This type of thing would be the greatest benefit to those that already benefited from the original artifact drops (me included). Those of us that have a few decent planets and upgrades everywhere will tend to have higher production levels. Guess who would be getting 3-4 terraformers and planet fluxes a day. Probably the guys with 3-5K/hour artifact production.

Well, like I said I was just throwing an idea out to see if it stuck to anything or not. Tends to happen when I'm on at O'Damn-Early in the morning.

I don't support that. I like current system. This idea only widens the gap between freebies and payers... That can alienate those freebies even more that is never good. There are already several things in this game that attracts payers..

I don't agree with that idea as well but I do agree with the fact that older players have an unfair advantage when it comes to getting "random" artifacts and finding very massive 3xmega rich planets. I have scanned and let my artifacts pts get to max before recieving shipment and still mega rich planet or planet flux. It just seems like "random" chance while scanning and recieving artifacts has been a one sided affair.

Although I have to admit that currently higher level players have a bonus to production based off the old drop rates for certian items, you guys have to remember there is no level limit in this game and eventually I think it will all come out in the wash. Just give it some time.
