Osama is dead Punk rock remix (Original tune & lyrics by Jon LaJoie)

Or if you want to start with something more mellow by David Rovics.

We have holiday events with special goodies, NPCs and missions, so what say we have something to commemorate one year since the killing of the terrorist mastermind?

-1

Celebrating the death of a bad person only generates respect for that person.

-1 - just do not get it do you. Do not celebrate a death regardless.

While it might be acceptable for those who have lost loved ones in the 9-11 event or the ensuing war to celebrate this, it is really a bad thing to celebrate a death or disaster or anything of that kind for any reason.

And face it, the acceptable population is small and GL is not exculsive to them.
So big NO

So I suppose then, we don't even get an NPC enemy with Bin Laden's type of flair, that thousands of players can participate in killing.

if only u.s. players were buying GP's, this might be considered, but if dan hopes to have any sort of international fanbase, such an addition would be a no-go zone. do we have a pope-ish NPC for jews and non-catholics to kill ? or how about if china and the phillipines get into an actual tiff over some coral reefs in the middle of the ocean - do we have an NPC to celebrate whoever loses ? think of the most offensive OPPOSITE of what you've suggested, and if you would get riled up over that addition to the game, then you should re-think your proposal.

Many would find this distasteful, not just followers of Islam -1

-1 If this was to be introduced into the game, then before long it'll have branched into NPCs for the first and second world wars.

this opinion is just from an objective standpoint (Ain't even going into how morally wrong it is to celebrate the death of ANYONE)

Wow. No. Just no. This is incredibly distasteful.

how about no.
unless you think it would be appropriate for a boss npc that looks like jesus, or mission to destroy a galactic trade centre by suicide bomber, etc etc.
personally, i have no care about anything in the game. its a game, thats it.
the events that are currently in galaxy legion are only loosely based on whatever is going on in our world (lepus colony etc) so as to try and not offend anyone that may not celebrate that holiday.

You know what, I guess you're right. If there wasn't a flurry of down-votes for this May 1st event, I would've made another suggestion topic for September 11th, to defend the new Galactic Trade Center from the "Owel'Kaedhe" aliens. They would've planned to ram two ships into into the GTC, but in defending the facility, we'd disable their ships before reaching their intended targets. Then anyone who disabled the ships would've won the "Patriot" or "Defender of Freedom" medal.

Even though I now realize that too many players would be against these kinds of events, at least we have Independence Day on the 4th of July; something to celebrate freedom.

"Owel'Kaedhe"

Am I the only one who sees the horrible racism in that name? Just because a group from 1 part of the world did something bad, their whole race doesn't deserve it.

It would be akin to me saying all Christians are bad because of Westboro church.

I'm all for patriotism, but when it goes so far as to offend others, I also take offense.

I'm not referring to any "race" or religion. If you pronounce "Owel'Kaedhe," it sounds like the terrorist group formerly led by Bin Laden, not any particular race or religion.

If you watched Obama's speech that Sunday night, we've never been at war with Islam. (In fact, Bin Laden killed many Muslims.) I would not condone wars against any religion either.

Sorry that some players get confused, but please, we need to get our facts straight.

It also looks like towelhead.

The Fact still stands. You are trying to celebrate the death of a person. Whether they were bad or not, that does not matter. Still sick, and yet you still are pushing it.
