just a small idea, but for gaining this medal (use the Dark Aperture Key ability 20 times) i think you should be able to unlock a option, like a new ship design medal, to change your avatar on the mission image/in the legion tab to use the Dark Smuggler one you get in the Dark Upgrades mission (which to me looks pretty cool, and seems a shame that you only see it for one mission).
