This would be called Atmospheric Space, which would be used for cloaking satellites.
It would be match to the size of the planet as regular space is but would be 6 space (this could be changed if you guys think its OP) for every size of the planet (e.g. very tiny have 6, average would be 30 etc)

So a Mega Colossal would have 66 size, which would be enough to completely cloak it.

would be interesting if there are many different types of space on planets thou
the standard space as it is now, which can be used for all types of struture
atomspheric for satelites and minefields on gas, plasma, terra etc planet that would have atomsphere
fortified for outpost, resistance base etc on volcanic, barren etc planets with a complex terrain
cores on metallic/crystal etc for mining
underground cities on terra/gaia/dyson etc for artifact etc

those would be discovered via planet events(permanent but not analysised) or when the planet reach a certan "age" (say 6 month or a year, in case of multiple possible types, such as terra have atomsphere and underground city, it means minimal discover of one per 6 month or a year, if minimal is met at such a time mark, then no new discoveries until next one)

that would make planet type play a bigger part than the current system where only a few artifact interact based on planet types

Yes please do this Dan so the high rankers who already have a insane production, too much production and have a great advantage over the rest of us can get even more powerful by not having to put defense in the resource space. Anyway enough of sarcasm, basically with the current system, it's all about planetary management. How to squeeze the maximum amount of production possible out of a planet while still making hard if not impossible to take. With that system it would just be a lot more boring clicking, no strategy, besides planets would be a lot harder to find and take.

I got it that space you want to use for putting satellites and junk in there that idea isn't any good i say that space makes it so only a set number of guards can be stationed at a planet (for example a tiny planet would only get around 2 guards a very large would get like 6 guards)
This would make it so if you wanted one of those super large planets you have to be alot more tactical about it and take into account at the guards they might throw at it also would make it so people wouldnt be as tempted to not put any defenses on and then just dog pile a planet when it gets attacked.
