I'm thinking that there should be a recipe or two for npc dropped artis.
Ive got quite a few artis that are just collecting dust and will never get used otherwise.
I'm not that creative to read each description of every arti that I do and don't have and figure something out.
But I'm sure someone has had some ideas already.

maybe if you had like 25 of a few rare drops from rare npcs you could "call" a random boss ship to battle

the problem is that not everyone killsyNPCs so they wont be able to use those recipes and if you are a starting legion and that is your first recipe kind of sucks if the items needed are too high ranking or if you are such a high rank you don't see the NPCs any more.

clearly not everyone npcs.. so clearly not everyone get the mods...
not everyone spends cash or does free rewards things to get FATHERS.. and who cares???
not everyone PvPs and thus dont get the DC's or armories.. should we nerf those items as well because SOME people dont do those?

as for what artis would be used.. theyd have to be fairly common so everyone could make them.. lower levels excluded, simply because you need goals to set and achieve.

because everyone uses the CTL, and if I spend 12M research to find a recipe I can't use I would be ticked off. If you so many of the artifacts scrap them, use them. Don't tell me you can't spend dark foci fast enough, there are more NPCs than Dark voiders. Just burn them on others NPCs, even if they don't need to be nerfed.

Yes some people, don't PVP, but the rewards are individual bonuses, not legionwide like a ctl recipe.

I can agree with your argument, but ill just amend my suggestion..
this recipe is ONLY to be gotten after all the others have been done... that way ONLY npc's people (or generous others), would try to get it researched... yeah it would suck NEEDING to get the rest of the lab completed.. but yet again.. GOALS...
Why do you think Caelon isnt available from rank one.. because its a GOAL to find him.. I could quite successfully do npcs without 2K scan and do most missions as well..but i WANT to find him. and i want the rewards that come with it.

I actually agree with the original post. Every CT lab discovery is going to leave a few players alienated due to the fact that so many ships play so many different ways. Mission only ships won't care about the Aegis or the Velox, just like I personally have no use for the spy probes, and a hacker would have no need for a crux amp (usually). While I do think that perhaps the odds of CT lab discoveries need to be scaled back with the addition of new ones, so that the odds of finding that last discovery never get worse from the addition of a new discovery, I see no reason why a new discovery shouldn't be added to further cater to every play style.

And as to Littlefluffy, the fact that it is legion-wide in the CT lab is exactly why the discoveries need to be more diverse. Legions are full of different players playing different ways, and the CT lab should be an extension of that.

By the time you are able to use the CTLab, most people are going to be high enough rank and strong enough to effectively fight NPCs and get these drops. But... There's really only a couple that really accumulate. Dark Voids, Orbital Mass Disruptors and Sha'din Algorithms. Non PvPers will gather Trap Probes and some Chaostatic Inhibitors, but there really isn't any reason to add outrageously expensive (in research points) recipes in the lab to use any of these. Mainly because there will always be only a limited number of those items available.

I'd much rather have a new recipe that uses ship bots and crimson obelisks for an infinite use item. You should only be able to unlock this recipe after all the other recipes are found in your lab.

Insufficient.

Ancient Crystal Foci (Uses Left: 38)
Crimson Obelisk (Uses Left: 2021) <---After giving away literally thousands.

Fair enough, although don't forget about that scrap button.

CTL discovery rolls for each item might as well be independent of each other so that # of item in total does not affect the chance of any individual item and that would make many CTL recipe suggestion more feasiable.
thou that might require rescaling of chances etc....
