Is there not anyway to add the pictures for modules and NPC and such to the actual page rather then clicking to view them?

maybe but we do not want to have to load up so may module images each time we open that page, maybe the npc ones are acceptable though

I see your point, would they affect load times that much?

I just think it would make the whole thing look a lot prettier and more interesting to look around.

It's just a case of building the necessary templates and then editing every single article to integrate the template created.

Feel free to help out and do that when you have the spare time. :)

just tried with what we can do on here with the [img] thing for signatures, doesnt work on the wiki :P unless someone may know how its coded into the game with artefacts in cargo where you can hover over a word/symbol to show the image?

I could build an NPC image template and then edit one article, so you can see how it's done, if you are willing to replicate that setup into other NPCs.

I don't mind helping if there is a template made then i could just insert the images right?

I started downloading all the images and building a spreadsheet with npc data, modules, research etc and such so Its something i would enjoy doing.

With the exception of just a few, all the NPC's already have the direct link on the page. If the template is done, the links just need moved into it. No need to be digging through a spreadsheet for them.

I built an NPC template, however currently the wiki settings prohibit the uploading of images and/or the displaying of images directly.

I assume that this is to prevent unwanted images of any sort from being introduced, and thus I have found a solution that would block all images not found on the GL server from being displayed, I just need QCubed to accept my friend request so I can show him how it could be done.

Right now with the current settings there is nothing we can do to display externally linked images, nor are they allowed to be uploaded, but hopefully this can be changed soon, and then the editing can begin.

In the mean time, here is an example of what the template would look like, with the actual ship image displayed where the "Ship Image" link currently resides.

i like where the ship image will appear on the right.

however, the rest of the NPC detail table might be better on the left, to better fit 'above the fold'.
