since we can spend rank points on scientists for research maybe we could spend rank points on archeologists(artifacts) and miners(mining).

What would miners mine on a ship? What would archaeologists "unearth" on a ship? That's the logical explanation, but here's the game mechanic explanation as well. At low ranks, costs are so low that planetary mining production should easily outpace rising costs. Research at low ranks is very vital while at higher ranks when costs became "crazy" that research can be converted to credits. Archaeologists, well artifact production is what makes your ship powerful. It should not be self sustaining. You need to work hard to get artifact production.

archeologist, unless extremely rare to be on par with terraformer at least to get +1 or +2, is overpowered. ever realised how there is optimizer and purifier but no "ez" AP booster? they are not in the same league.

miner... not needed, for reash darth stated.
