We ALL know the dificulties in recruiting new members for our legions.
We have all see the forum threads attempting to recruit, we've all seen when someone does post eg; 102 zolazin looking for a .... and the following shower of post come here...no come here.
If you are not a top 10 Legion you will have a hard time recruiting
I don't know what could be developed to do so in a fair way.
my suggestion:
#1 all when viewing ones ship Dan should add a (Recruit) button, costs 25 energy which will send a basic preset recruitment invitation. #2 when recruiting ones ship the option to send along with the basic recruitment message You may add Incentive IF your base has enough recruitment points... thus the next part.
base feature: Base recruitment fund
all members deposit X amount (similar to base upgrade tab... contribute:energy,em,tech parts)
if a player accepts a "invite w/ incentive" that player receives a special module randomly generated by the base, if said player leaves the legion they lose the module.
different modules would be available based on a ratio of base level, legion activity, recruitment fund and player stats
just a rough idea, fine tune it or post your own idea..... i think this is something we really need be it this idea or something completely different just something to help small struggling legions to gain members.

One thing this game is lacking is unique incentives to join a legion
It's not that hard actually. You need to be established and popular. That's it. For incentives, do you mean other than protection for your planets, the s*** tonne of extra resources you can get from the base, silver badges, more npc battles and improving your ship?

thats just it, all the big popular legions have the market cornered and have no problem recruiting, leaving all the small, lower rank legions struggling

Xzien wrote: It's not that hard actually. You need to be established and popular. That's it. But i do agree with Xzien in the fact that the best way to recruit is to be established and popular. Basically if someone who is popular on the forums visits your legion, then they will post what they think of your legion whether it's good, meaning u get a good referrance, and if it's bad then u need to improve, but u will only get a good referrance if the person who visits thinks your legion is doing well. Supernova u might want to ask around see if anyone will visit your legion.

its also due to the large number of new legions that get created every hour, my suggestion would be to have the list only show legions that have at least 20 players and 100% active and make them come here to recruit, that way the forum gets more users as well.

what about a "promote legion" option ?
puts your legion at the top of the list when looking through legions
would probly have to cost GP to prevent over promotion

I know how you feel recruiting members broski, I had such issues getting TA off the ground but I tell you that once you get situated in the community things get much, much easier. I am honestly surprised how many people look at the forums and don't talk. Dang ghost forumers... Anyway, my best idea for you is to post a really good recruitment thread and try to recruit lower ranked members. I say that because those darned none existent people keep taking all them high ranked members and what not. Lol, Seriously though, they are scary good at recruiting. I am still trying to bribe the secret out of one of em.

we were established ... had 43 members... slowly 1 by 1 they go inactive, then after you lose them people split for more action... then your left with the guys that dont talk on the comm and just slow rank on missions and log off ... WE NEED RECRUITING INCENTIVES

Supernova, I have found that if your really want your legion to be active you your self and the other leaders/officers you have must be as well. If your members log on and no one ever talks then why would they? Its up to the leadership of the legion to be the ones to start the talking. Also getting a high ranking player to vouch for you help you with getting new players would help as well. I have had many players ask me to recruit for their legion or send the really low ranking players that apply to our legion to theirs. I don't mind doing this when I remember but I don't know most of the players that do ask me to do it either. If you really want a high ranker to do so you should really get to know him/her. Talk to them become FB friends, trade, and so on. It helps wonders. I have players PM me here on the forum and ask me who I would recommend for them to join. I am more the glad to help with that. If players see that a well established well known player like another legion they will join that one sooner then others.
Hope this helps and wish you luck here. Your legion has been around for a while and I would really hate to see it go since it had such a great start up there a while back.

firstly heres the link to a thread i made: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24757the idea is kinda similar to yours. and i do agree 100% with this idea smaller legions need to have a better way to recruit. i do agree that being popular and on the leader board helps but there should be other ways. i have seen and heard of active legions with level 5 and 6 bases with only 15-20 members. legions like that could reach their maximum potential by having better ways to recruit.

You just need to be willing to put in the effort in order to get good recruits. Over the past week or so I've managed to bring in quite a few new faces to CoI, out of the hundreds of messages I sent out looking for recruits, I found the couple that wanted the change, you guys have a level 5 base, that can look fairly attractive to the right people, you just need to find them.
