As we know, there is a variety of NPC factions in the universe, and they have different beliefs and relationships with the other factions. This idea is that one of the factions requires "assistance" when dealing with a hostile faction, and will reward you for helping. The rewards would vary from faction to faction, but would be a reward normally associated with the group you are helping.

So, for example:
The Rogue Science League are renowned for being able to steal any form of scientific data and selling it to the highest bidder, however recent reports from the League indicate that members of the Sha'din Coalition have been using their hacking abilities to steal information and are selling it to rivals of the League. Assist the League to stop this, and you will be rewarded.
Tier one - kill X (maybe matched to different levels) amount of Sha'din Coalition NPCs. Reward 2 hours worth of research production.
Tier two - kill 2X amount of Sha'din Coalition NPCs. Reward 4 hours worth of research production.
Tier three - kill 3X amount of Sha'din Coalition NPCs. Reward 300 Complex Tech parts.
Tier four - kill 4X amount of Sha'din Coalition NPCs. Reward RSL Memory Implant.
Tier five - kill 5X amount of Sha'din Coalition NPCs. Reward Planet Data Optimizer.
(feel free to suggest changes or swapping different rewards around)

Or, as a different example:
The Terran Outsiders, while attempting to rebuild following the efforts of various galactic fleets to slow down their advancing borders, have recently been attempting to establish new Trade Routes with other colonies. Members of the Dark Smugglers Guild, however have been impersonating TO ships and have stolen numerous shipments vital to the Outsiders' new trading policies. Help dealing with these criminals would benefit us as well as you.
Tier one - kill X amount of Dark Smuggler NPCs. Reward 10 Shield Restorers.
Tier two - kill 2X amount of Dark Smuggler NPCs. Reward 20 Shield Amplifiers.
Tier three - kill 3X amount of Dark Smuggler NPCs. Reward 5 TO Manufacturing Cores.
Tier four - kill 4X amount of Dark Smuggler NPCs. Reward 1 Terraformer.
Tier five - kill 5X amount of Dark smuggler NPCs. Reward 1 Quasi-Spatial Expander.
(again feel free to suggest alternatives or different rewards for each tier)

These contracts could be available at any time, or maybe after a bi-weekly mission chain has ended to allow people to focus on them. After completing a contract for one faction, it would be replaced by one for a different faction and would re-appear later, so maybe a set pattern for them or they could be pure random.

Obviously rewards could do with tweaking and the tiers could be extended but the idea itself is a good one.

thanks feel free to suggest any tweaks to the rewards, or any other idea for background on what group wants to kill another group. i think the only faction it would be difficult to have as the one asking for help would be the silthion, and the ones difficult to be hunting would be the silthion, rogue science league, the TO , mylarai mining guild and after a certain level the drannik automatons
