 Battle Tab & Planets Combine?

I have been thinking of the battle system GL has with regards to PVP and the Planets which players own and thought would it be nice if you could in someway combine the 2.

For instance, on the battle tab instead of just having a list of players you can attack what if players and planets were on a grid (maybe something similar to Back Yard Monsters) whereby you can see planets in range of you and other ships. This means in order for you to attack a player a certain amount of energy will be required to travel the distance to intercept and then attack. This could be the same for planets.

I know this means that planets and players would be left open to a greater level of risk from numerous players attacking planets and players but this could easily be corrected by having the level scanning a player has playing a role in GL in which depending on a players scanning capability will determine the number of planets and lvl of players they can see on the grid because some may be cloaked as well.

This would make the battle tab alot more interesting and bring a fresh lvl of game play to GL which i think many will enjoy. What are your thoughts?

It's a nice idea, and sounds good, but that would be too big of a change for the current system, and would devastate current game mechanics.

The biggest issue I have is the use of energy to travel. If you add this with the use of energy in attacking, it would completely change the way PvP works.

As well with the whole planets thing. If I read what your wrote right, that would essentially get rid of the artifact star chart purger, which is essentially to how players currently find planets for the most part. It would also get rid of the star chart purger mission, and allow basically any player to find any number of planets he would want, and allow the high ranked players with massive amounts of energy to find pretty much every planet they want, allowing them to take much better planets from less strong players, and to find the better planets, since they would have more energy to move with.

True i think if they ever did put something like that into effect there would be too much to change or put in to do so

you also need to remember that there are four MILLION planets.. do you know how big that grid would need to be?

-1 high ranks like mento would be able to take every natural dyson in the game

the only thing that has a small chance of happening


a grid to npc through galaxies for special npcs ( more mission types )

a grid for area specific missions (like in a galaxy is a red giant on a way to destroy some planets and you have to prevent that) (and that you can take that planet(s) but cant normally scan them as they may be destroyed by a natural event)

a grid for new structures (stations of some kind, like a private trade center)

a grid for sort legion capturable objects that can give the legion and or its members a bonus (like 5% legion base hull , attack, defense / 1% player attack and maybe a few objects that wil give 1 energy per hour more over the max limt , and your legion can only control one of those)

a grid for objects where you can buy certain modules (not OP , just a bonus) , or temporarily buffs (not to powerful)

or you have a player on your bt and a planet scanned of that person , you would be able to see that , that player owns it or has the same planet scanned as you do

This would not work at all. It is too game breaking to ever work. Dan would have to completely re program core aspects of the game, such as planets, scanning, and PvP, when he could be spending his time doing updates for new content.

To do this would make it a totally different game, it would no longer be galaxy legion, and to be honest I've quit multiple games like that in the past almost as soon as I've started. GL is the only game that's ever kept my interest fro more than a couple of months, although I imagine part of that is won to the TA, but anyway.
