what about if when you are comming other players on their ship comm that it is free people like to talk on comms away from prying eyes but run out of energy just an idea...please comment your thoughts |

The energy cost helps to minimize spam on peoples comms. There's still going to be some Dbags that get their jollies like that, but for the most part people aren't going to spend 100s of energy points on comms. Aside from the idiots that post "badge" comms, that is...

If the 5 energy is to deter comm spamming, how about an opt-in to allow free comms between two ships? When both parties "establish a comm channel", it's free, but either can opt out at any time, requiring either party to spend 5 energy for any subsequent comms. |

A free comm should be normal for Legionmates, people on your friendlist and maybe even people in legions with a Tradepact, Battlepact or NAP with your legion. Otherwise .... 5 energy to send a comm is nothing except an inconvence to people with less than maybe 500 energy. |
