At least on Spore, we get to go on-planet AND be in-space.

EVE Online is just making inroads into being involved in on-planet affairs.

What on-planet content do we have on the horizon? Is there any thread that lists features & items on the horizon?

Probably because they (or much of they) take place in outer space and involve expanding space empires?

(EVE's method of expanding your space empire is quite a bit more involved, on the other hand. You would need the help of your Corporation to do so.)

I think what Asheron is getting at is that its kind of boring to just sit back and plop buildings on planets and never go back to them. It would be more interesting to Micro manage planets when we have the time, planet events were a step in that direction but it would be nice to have some minor planet events or some way to manage them better.
