Due to Mento's recent taunt, telling the unknown to take on a 6+ base, we decided to take him up on it.
I would like to propose this be implemented in the game. A legion challenges another to a certain task. Find X amount of a certain NPC, kill a base level X+, complete X missions in a certain time.
There can be varying difficulties, most likely just increasing the amount or doing it in a shorter time. It can be like normal, hard, ultra hard IMPOSSIBLE!!! (names not important). where normal is 1x, hard is 2x, ultra hard is 3x and impossible is 10x.
The rewards can be a wide range of things. Medals, titles, new badge item (possible ally forming one, that ranks for each challenge completed), etc.

Interesting. I suppose Dan would give the rewards out; although that would require him approving the challenge.

not necessarily, it could be implimented into the diplomacy tab, the challenges could be set, and each one could have option of difficulty ex:
challenges : kill NPCs disable bases : etc....
on selection...
Kill NPC(s)
kill 100 NPC rare / eltes kill 20000 NPCs etc.
rewards vary

I see it as a bandaid fix like the medals, but it could be more. it promotes activity, legion co-op tasks, can easily be implemented with content already in place and has room for improvement. So please tell me what part of it is a terrible idea.

Maybe he's implying that there would be some sort of colusion in the challenges from the opposing legion. Like an allied legion would "challenge" my legion to a really task that is very easy to accomplish. To counteract that, challenges could be based on the rank/strength of the legion. Example of a challenge: Legion must defeat X NPCs in 1 day, where X = the total number of ranks for all ships in the legion at the time of the challenge. A small legion of 10 ships with an average rank of 100 would have to take down 1000 NPCs, while a large legion of 60 players with average strength of 500 would have to defeat 30,000 NPCs.

simply the fact that it requires a separate legion to initiate the task is the problem and including rewards would be terrible if thats the case

Let the medals we can earn be the challenges, Have all rewards be some thing that helps the legion.

I was thinking more similar to bases. Level of difficulty goes up so do the rewards and more badges if a new type is implemented. This simply allows them to help each other and grow stronger. It also helps with internal legion cooperation, or that is the intention. The rewards don't need to be absurdly good or anything. An ally/base mod that ranks for challenges completed or during the challenge a certain NPC might appear on someone's bt that upgrades base defense mods, things like that. Also they could be races. First to do the task gets the rewards and the other legion gets a lesser or no reward. These are just recurring ones that other players initiate.
