Love to be able to appoint someone as a designated Ambassador, possible ability to leave the legion on a temp basis for less than a day and come back and still be loyal, 24 hr on/off switch. (If you dont like the overall Idea this would be a cool profession)

You can’t kick who ever has been the leader the longest so why not make a supreme leader position (only one possible per legion) that is default to the creator of the legion and must be passed on by appointment for him/her to leave the legion.

A Base Foreman can be someone who is on a lot and I want to have use the base abilities and not necessarily someone I want to be an officer.

Legion recruiter can send recruiting messages for free to recruit 30min cool down

I’m sure we could think of more but some of these would add to the prestige of the leader and officer positions while others will give players that shouldn’t be leadership something to shoot for or motivate some players to be more active to get them. This could even easily be tied to some medal chances.

Love the idea but while your at it give the leader rank some advantages to it right now there is hardly anything different for a leader then a officer other then being able to set announcements.

a leader also sets the legion rules and i reccomend adding a Supreme Leader Position.

Just adding to this as a leader, I would love a way to fine or punish players without having to kick them out. Maybe restrict access to bases or elites for a week or suspend base shipment. May be a nice power for the SL

Absolutely not. No player should ever be given the power to restrict another player's game.

If he/she wants to stay in the legion but has made a infraction of the legion rules why not? Better than being kicked and if the member has issue with it he/she is still free to leave.

Leaders rarely ever get the whole story. If an "infraction" justifies more than a polite talking to, the person SHOULD be removed from the legion. I've been either an Officer or a Leader in 2 legions for the last 2 years. First in what was at the time a growing mid-rank legion and now in a top 5 legion. I've found that just talking to the "rule breaker" normally resolves the situation. Only rarely have I ever been forced to kick someone for behavior. I've only ever demoted one person and that was for conduct detrimental to the legion as a whole and only after discussing it with the rest of our Officer Corp. I don't feel I have the right to impinge on anyone else's NPCs or their base payout or any of the many other "punishments" suggested in multiple threads like this one. Not to mention the potential for abuse of power that some Leaders might exercise. Giving people power over someone else's game play WILL be abused and WILL cause players to leave legions. In the long run, that will weaken the legion. This is a social game, not a dictatorship.

No darth you dont get something yeah youve been in the game for a long time but you keep missing something about legions, when you join a legion you agree to follow there rules and follow orders of the higher ups, and before you say "but players will abuse it" answer me something, how long do you think a legion will last if the leader abuses the rights they have?

What is even the point of being a leader of anything if you cant give orders out? There is no chain of command and there is no reason to fear breaking the rules of the legion after all you get kicked out you can go join any other legion you wish.

It would be nice to be able to have another alternative then the extreme action of kicking someone, besides even if you talk to someone and agree for them to accept a "punishment" you have no way at all to enforce it.

I've never been unloyal since bases came out, but ^this^ I agree with. A leader needs to be able to lead.

In general, I'm not opposed to having more tiers in the legion hierarchy. But... They need to be distinct and justified. Right now, I don't see the need because the current positions pretty well cover all the responsibilities of running a successful legion.

There's something that you and so many of the other "little" legions don't seem to get. Look at the top legions. How much internal conflicts do you see? We flame at each other (mostly for fun) because we have rivalries, but internal stuff RARELY ever happens. Rather than making suggestions on how to change the game to make up for your lack of control, why not look at the examples set by and take the advice of the more experienced, better run legions? Forcing players to follow a set of hard-line rules makes them have less fun and less respect for those rules. Setting an example with your own actions within a relaxed atmosphere leads to a much more cohesive and "well behaved" group.

Thats funny seeing as some of those top legions got to there place by having set rules to follow that only a select few can keep to.

One of the most common might i point is is "legion for rank 400" meaning that right there you set a hard line rule for member ship of your legion unless someone already has connections within the legion.

All legions have set rules for there members from the dysonians down to a new legion just founded there are expectations for the members, there are many militaristic style legions out there, but currently the leader or commander rank isnt treated as a leader, and dont think for a moment that im saying anything about this due to a lack of control.

The legion im in its command structure is somewhere between a Meritocracy and a Republic type of leadership.

The reason why I put forward and keep bringing up the idea of leaders being able to impose punishment is to add structure to a system that every legion all ready does but has no way to enforce it, internal strife and conflicts rarely happen in any well established legion but when it does happen the only way to discipline someone is with word of mouth or with a kicking out pf the legion.

The ability to impose punishments on legion members would enable a method to ensure a player has to abide by a agreed punishment, without having to resort to something as harsh as kicking them out.

And also to what you said about it being abused.....you never have answered me in ANY thread where it was brought up of what would happen if the leader was to abuse it other then vaguely saying that it "will weaken a legion" by weaken you mean that players will leave the legion like rats on a sinking ship.

While I agree making it so you punish a member so they cant fight legion bosses is foolish, some punishment ideas would be practical, say a leader could give a punishment that acts like a debuff where for a set period of time a small portion of someones split of the base production is withheld so they cant get the full benefit of it.

Or say someone has got in the habit of locking a easy base and killing it before anyone else can restrict them and them alone from locking bases for a set period of time, to change the lock rules for a whole legion just because one member is thoughtless is unfair to the other members.

As it is now there is little benefit to being a leader in any legion.

I think I'm with Darth on this one, I mean I do like the idea of added positions in a legion a lot, and the OP suggestions are pretty good. As for punishments, I thought it would be a good idea, but reading Darth's posts, I realise he's probably right, however I do think punishments could be implemented as long as they didn't affect the player too much.

Maybe this should have been a seperate subject as I dont want it to detract from the origional post of more types of positions with-in the legion. I would love for a few more and hope you guys can trow a few more out there.

Having said that there is a big difference in big legions that have experienced players in it and new legions trying to build with less experienced and established players. I am in the military and it would be like having a group of NCOs as compared to a group of Privates. NCOs are more experienced and make less mistakes, may not get along with each other some times but know how to function, Privates will of course have a lot harder time adjusting. The power of leadership to impose correctional measures to develope his team is a effective tool and part of leadership in a whole. Also like mentioned earlier a leader who abuses this power would not last long as members would leave if punishment was unfair, not just the punished members but the members who saw the events unfold.
