 Changes to Exotica

Besides the obvious of making it so you can't abandon it for a legion mate, I think Exotica should get a size and resource upgrade! A very large 11x mega rich planet isn't a big deal, at least to me. I think a very massive or colossal planet with dyson stats would make it so much more interesting, so people might want to try to get some production out of it, so like 50x mega rich for resources, make it stand out and be the amazing planet it should be!

All a size increase will do is give owners more space to add more Obviation Barriers. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. Increased resource levels, I think would be ignored. At least after the 2 or 3 day of ownership.

I don't think either part of this is all that great. Making it easier to defend via more space is counter to the contested effect, and ownership gives the influence ability that grants an entire legion additional resources.

with the contested boost, I don't think it matters that there is more barriers on it, honestly, wait a day or 2 and it will be like it was still at very large

At VL there is 57 spaces, so 28 Barriers for 33,600.
At M there is 63 spaces, so 31 Barriers for 37,200.
At VM there is 69 spaces, so 34 Barriers for 40,800.

Just an increase from VL to M allows for an additional 10.7% defense. Increasing it to VM allows for an additional 21.4%. That's without any legion or xecti bonus. It completely defeats the purpose of having the contested effect start after one day. The point of the contested effect is to make the planet harder to hold long term, so why give the opportunity to add enough defense to counter several days of the contestation?

How about an incremental increase to production for every day the planet remains with an owner. If it changes hands, reset.

You haven't seen the structures on Exotica have you? 1 topopopopolis ring, a habitat module (idk why) and the rest are obviation barriers. Resources on that planet are worthless. Even having it at 100x MR would be pointless for Exotica.

I think increasing it's resources is besides the point, people don't take it for the resources, they take it for the medal.

One tweak to the new list id like to see is, the owned of the planet has no 1 hour wait to defend it again. only seems fair.

That did strike me as odd, but it does mean people on't just constantly re-guard, allowing for people to more easily take it, and it brings more tactics into play, that is also the reason the holding time was reduced to 8 hours.

Dan, I think these changes are great, thanks you so much. Now we really do have a super active zone to pvp and enjoy the game.

After fighting a large number of players I have only come across one gripe. Some players have extremely small ships for their level. Im talking leviathans at over level 900. What this does essentially is allows them to have an extreme damage advantage. For example. If i have 32000 attack and 32000 defense and they have 8000 attack and 5000 defense, I hit them for only 100 damage and they hit me for over 500. Thats just wrong.

Nope not wrong, it just means they planned their ship really well. It's a perfectly legitimate playstyle.

Perhaps I wasnt clear. There is no way they should be able to do more damage to me than i could to them with those stats. I wont bicker about strategy, I know you have to sacrifice a few things to keep a ship that small, but doing more damage with less firepower against a greater defense is ridiculous.

so if you shot a machine gun at a fly merely because he small you should kill him i think not whats going to happen is your going to miss this is how it reflects in gl as well your giant ass ship is just missing

if you still dont understand think of it as you fireing all 40 of your cannons your not going to hit his tiny ship with all 40 cannons you only hit with say 5 so instead of having 32k attack you get 5k (this is just an example)

in regards to you taking more damage your big ship is basically a giant target he cant miss

Another tweak I would support is being allowed to terraform/enhance the resources, ad infinitum, so that it's an even more appealing target.

An interesting idea. It would be cool to see the planet continue to grow into a monster, but with the current changes, exotica is essentially a "one shot" deal planet. I don't know that I would waste a terraformer, knowing the planet will be stolen from me in a couple of days and knowing I can never really get it back. Still, I give you a half a point for originality. +1/2
