When you kick a player, have it be so that you're made to enter a reason for kicking. Why would a departing player not deserve a reason?

Also, system would detect blank textspace, and say: "You must give a reason for kicking. Please type then submit."

Sometimes kickers forget to tell them why they're going; the mandated reason field would help them remember.

If the kicker forgets then too bad for them.

If the kickee can't figure out why they got kicked, they are too dumb for the legion anyway.

Just post on the comm before you kick them.

Why? I mean if someone kicks you your hardly going to go back there are you so it doesn't matter.

Dunno, common courtesy?

There's also the matter of the mass kickings upon promoting someone to Leader. True, the legion was stupid enough to do it in the first place, but it's another reason.

Wait, what will it do to prevent that? People will just type "lol".

there are better solutions to prevent mass kickings then what Asheron is proposing.

i also agree with Thunderbolta when he said someone could just type something completely random like "lol" and the person who got kicked would still have no idea why.

An unreasonable-sounding reason on Wikipedia

Another, even more unreasonable sounding reason, again on Wikipedia.

Unreasonable kick/block reasons happen all over the web. Wikipedia is quite a bit more "serious" in its scope than GL, and yet this still happens every now and again, though not most of the time.

It's hard to regex-out reasons that do not make sense. Much of the time however, any kicker may be assumed to be mature enough to give a rational, valid reason. - Asheron

The being required to enter a reason would slow the kicker down, hopefully enough to have another leader intervene and stop the carnage.

And better yet, I think kicks should be limited to one every 15 minutes, in order to curtail said mass abuse. - Asheron

Put it in as optional. You can absolutely submit it blank, or you can fill in the reason as you feel.

its already is optional as is. leaving a comm on a person's ship accomplishes the same thing.

Good point. Totally unnecessary then.

Leaving a comm is good enough if you really want to for crying out loud, don't force people to have to take even more annoying steps to do something as simple as kicking. The timer for kicking is an idea I would support as to stop mass kickings.
