Aerostat habitats to add population to gas planets.
Suggestion: 2000 artifact points, limit one per planet (gas type only): 1 Research, 100 Population

I like the idea as well. A lot of my artifact structures that give population (such as Archaic Stasis Cells) I save for good Gas planets. They could easily make this well-balanced, simply because you're only going to have so many Gas planets, and a lot of them won't be too good, so this could definitely work.

I like the idea in theory but I would much rather see it a mission artifact. Once you hit a certain point, you have way too many artifact buildings (from the draw) that you know what to do with. At level 340, I only own 3 gas giants and of that, I would probably abandon one of them if I had more GP.
At this point, I have at least 30 of each artifact drawn building. I sell more than I will ever use.

Yeah, this is a good idea. 8 of my 53 planets are Gas-type and only one is a really good planet (thanks to the Rogue Science League lol) but I wouldn't mind having more population on all of them if for no other reason than to prevent hostile takeovers by lower levels. Population from artifacts is a lot cheaper than putting Att/Def on it for that purpose and also leaves plenty of room for resource buildings.

If it was a daily mission then after a few times everyone would have gotton one for all their gas planets and forget it until another. I think if we got 15 or 10 from a mission it would be better.

Plasma planets mostly witch can have pop mod, asrto bio ward Its VERY, VERY weak. But can still be used by sub rank 200ish players. so a low nrg daily mission would be best. NOT AP pulls, NPCS, or Biweekly. How ever An add on to a chain mission that drops the blue print for it would also not be bad provided its a low rank mission added on to.

this thing is moot... u can now make plasma which can be populated.

I wouldn't say plasmas make the point moot, esp for lower ranks or play style (keeping modest house with a cheap alarm is a sufficient deterrent in most cases). Thanks for all opinions folks
