A legion collectively contributes various parts and components to a grand blueprint based on common parts found throughout the galaxy, which eventually releases a boss of varying strength depending on how many components are used. The more components contributed, the stronger the boss.

Once released, the boss can be found and disabled by any legion via normal Battle Tab NPC runs.

Two types of reward:
1) Boss creation rewards, better rewards for bigger and badder bosses
2) Boss disable rewards, better rewards for bigger and badder takedowns.

How about the atk and def and damage cap are matched for everyplayer, so everyone would get a chance. And the hull and shield does not change. Gives out quasis and terraformers.

This. I don't know what the rewards would be, but that would have to be predetermined.

You'd need a small team to go through the various boss designs and determine appropriate rewards.

So we would pay for a boss that our enemies to get to reap rewards from as well as ourselves?

You'd need a small team to go through the various boss designs and determine appropriate rewards.

Or a semi-complex formula, combined with an RNG. Basically, the rewards would be randomized when the boss was created, but based off of the boss.

Let's say one of the components was a sensor, and you put 10 sensors on it. You would then have 10x the chance to get a sensor etc.

My thoughts with this is there would be too many bosses. We'd need to build smaller NPCs and elites too! Which'd be a good thing.

The faction for the NPC could be the legion, I guess and the legion would be able to set a description for their legion to go on each NPC.

I doubt there would be all that much abuse, because if we were to make it take a lot of parts to build an NPC... those with the capability, probably would be too serious about the game.

i like the idea, but i can see the programming headache, and dan wouldnt let you write the description, too much chance for abuse there.

describe a way that this wouldnt take a small army of programmers to do, and ill back it 100%.
It would finally be a reward for all those countless npcs everyone has been killing.

I may be wrong, and this may be delving a little too far into the programming aspect for the general forum reader, however I believe NPC spawn / creation would be based on changeable fields into a generic "elite" or "boss" frame which is quite obvious in the way he can easily change the stats on existing NPCs, such as holiday stuff, hence why new content can be released instead of complex formulas unique to each boss. In that sense, it would be trivial to have a build-a-boss type input system, since it would simply be an "if, else if, else" type structure, where if it's not one thing, it's another, and various inputs can be determined from that. A simple formula could then determine the hull and shield, and a similar one for attack and defense, likely a slight warping of the "matched NPC" code right now. Boss level can also be scaled in this way, to give a general sense of how strong it is.

That to me is why it probably isn't a programming headache, it's using the infrastructure already laid down.

No one else sees a problem with this.

I sees a problem with it Precious.
Yes precious we sees a problem with their nasty little idea.

We gives it -1 for ignoring the precious
And another -1 because precious doesn't likes it.

If you're talking about people ONLY disabling others' NPCs, they lose out on rewards for making them. Not to mention created NPCs would appear randomly on the tab.

Alternate suggestion made by my legionmate.

NPC Lab

2 reds per attempt, exponential growth per discovery
1% chance (equal to the CTL chance)

Discovering a boss unlocks a mission chain that the legion works together to do. After the chain is competed: the NPC is available to that legion, as long as they have the NPC Lab installed on their base. Each chain has different elements of the chain that make it more or less difficult, based on how nice or crappy the rewards are.

Required Level 7 base in order to build.
