Hi all, reading some of the topics/suggestions I thought to add one or more too ![]() Legion contests -repeating each 6 months (period can be changed) -each time different nature of contest (once mission oriented, PvP, PvE..) ---> this could also cover in 2011 by webguydan annouced "Legion Missions (formerly called coop tasks)" viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5207 -awards per tiers/ranking of legions attending the contest -awards to be used only for legion bases (low tier awards can be a special planet artifact for each member of legion) -awards could be also %bonus to members (% bonus to raid, scan, production...) EDIT: - optional to temporary hire bots/allies for the legion contest period (GP/medal) -awards helping to keep control over territories -per nature of Legion contest there would be daily limit of actions per player, could be boosted by 5% by new artifact "Time extender" for GP (suggested as benefit for Dan/devs) EDIT 2: What about a new type of "Supreme NPCs", which could be available for entire legion and each member should have to disable first some guarding ships (protectors), then the main NPC itself? (Like bees and hive). The number of protectors could be equal to legion members or set as fix 50. Imagine a Lazuli Factor complex protected by small ships. Higher rank of these Supreme NPCs could be able to fix disabled protectors - e.g. one repaired per hour. There can be various combination of already known NPCs. This would be part of Legion contests. Thus current Elite NPCs would stay for existing Medal and new type of NPCs would be introduced. (inspired by battles in SGA mainly Ancients vs other enemies - Wraiths, Asurans/Replicators) EDIT 3: Ship-bots could be required to perform special missions in Legion contests. Sample: 50 completion, 30-50 attempts per mission each cost 1 ship-bot. AND: -ranking of legions attending legion contest with awards (100 exo clamps, 10 special space, bonus production points) for top 3 legions per contests. -player awards for legion contest participation could be on certain milestone tiers rank points (5 per each milestone, milestones set by Dan) Captains - heads of ship's crew - could be from any of existing types (engineer, scientist, tactial o. etc.) or new neutral type - could also rank (Gain xp from special actions - engineers from missions, tactical/hellsman from battles...) - beneficial to team thru bonuses (or later implemented special abilities - higher % to scan NPCs, planets, critical hits/hacks...) - captain could be improvement of player's racial types too - further to evolve the RPG part of this game EDIT: - optional to buy implants for Captains per race/profession/medal points (suggested as benefit for Dan/devs) Territories - currently no map in GL implemented, but it could support competition between legions - map would have sectors, map could be extended over time - for beginning the map should be 2D only - sectors could have coordinates.. to break down to stellar systems - 90% of planets would be part of stellar system - if a legion would have a control over stellar system/sector - could have benefits *from trades within territory - fee aspart of 20% now in game *better mining efficiency - game could implement transport losses up to certain % on hostile territory *higher xp gained from battles EDIT: - special territories would be open for short period (thru rifts "in time and/or space") as part of Legion contests - map as fix picture, no special animation needed - legion base disables would have a potential risk to loose territory (as production decrease due base disable, also the legion bonus should decrease) - inactive members would not count to control over sector/stellar systems - players would have to pay fee for stellar systems under their control such as for legion base now to challenge ranks 500+ with plenty of planets which could too easily get advance in sectors - artifact for GP to decrease the fee by 5% - players would start at random location on map - optionally for GP the player could select the starting coordinates, valid also for account restart - new random event in sectors "invasion of XY entities" decreasing production of all planets in particular stellar system (similar to Akulan entity etc) - probability of invasion could be decreased by 50% thru special structure "Xenobeacon" for GP/mission, limit one per planet As this are 3 points in one, I rather stop here. If needed to split the topic to 3 parts, feel free to let me know - will do so. In case the above ideas or similar ones were already discussed, please post the link to it. Feel free to constructively comment - if you disagree, explain reasonable why and/or suggest better idea. General suggestion for consideration: Implementation status bars. +1 but it seems will be taking a while for us to see this idea implemented. Dan said the NEXT update will be around legion missions (but we do like surprises ![]() |

The problem with these games is that unlike GL, people settle in specific places on the map and begin to build their territories.Once another legion finds you, they can come attack and harass you and your territory at any time.Gl has taken a step away from that.You find random people on the bt and can only keep coming at the same people if they attacked you or are alerted to you, and this goes away after 48 hours if you commit no offensive actions against them. Again it sounds interesting and I always enjoyed these kinds of games but they just dont seem to survive..plus the coding for dan seems would be a nightmare. he would have to completely redo the whole game and would kill the current battle system. -1 to this one As this are 3 points in one, I rather stop here. Original post edited, mainly for the Territories part with aim to make it more challenging regardless of players rank. I was also playing with idea of Galaxy Wheel events, which could in random stellar system either trigger invasion of NPC entities decreasing the defense of planets or trigger negative events on planets such as epidemic (decrease population), Rebels uprising (no production), Meteor shower (random structure destruction - could be countered by Governonrs) I DO like the game as it is, but as each game, there is always some evoluation/change to keep players playing. So these are only suggestions for consideration. |

-1 If GL implemented a map system, I think the game would lose players. Myself included. There are enough of those games out there already. I like GL because it offers something different. Its not mainstream. |

I do like the Captains and Contests, but I have to agree, Territories would have to receive a thumbs down from me. GL does not need a map system, as it would fundamentally change the way the game is played. I'm flattered by the way that you got inspiration from my story, thanks for the inclusion of my link as well ^_^ |

The overall idea is well thought out and presented in a clear readable way. I like the overall idea and while Dan may or may not use some or all of it. I think he could take the parts that best play into the way the game is already played and leave out the parts that he feels would change the game too much and could work it in as a major update. The overall concept is great for people that want or need more content. And in this case, giving people more to do earlier in the game makes it take longer to finish certain other things ... which would in turn extend existing content as well. It would be nice to have so much more to do that it takes longer to run out of stuff to do, great for mid-ranked players like myself. +1 |

as I got familiar with ship-bots issue in case of SSB - I edited the suggestions for Legion contests. This would be still in line with last annoucemenet from webguydan about focusing the mission more to high ranked players. Higher rank = more ship-bots gathered in cargo, right? |

EDIT 3 extended: legion contest awards as boost for legion base awards for player participation in legion contest in form of rank points (drafted, free for balancing) For my info: does anybody support or have concerns to last few updates? Thinking whether continue or stop here for now. |

Maybe raiding NPCs can be implemented in some way as well. just thinking: If Supreme NPCs with ships would implemented, then I would see reasonable to act to them as floating active NPC bases (per each fraction). "Base-like" NPCs could be allow to raid (but no quarantted loot per kill) and as ships in nature, these could be hacked.. to find the fraction controlled planet/s. I assume, this would provide new content, which can be later extended per line of existing NPC fractions and allow new medals e.g. similar to King of the hill. To scan Supreme NPCs, we can expect higher scan requirements and/or new legion base module. Scan could cost badges, upon consideration the color (silver/black). The aim would be to make it interesting and mainly challenging. |
