EDIT/UPDATE, 6-21-2013: "Might be seen as racist" referred to in-game races, not the real world's. (Of course THAT would have been irrelevant.)

I guess everyone mis-assumed. I sure hope to see as much diversity in-game (if not more) as there is out in the real world! And I hope no one else minds the in-game diversity too! Thanks. - Asheron

We have races... what's the point of ethnicities? No really, what does it accomplish?

I don't see how this would be considered as racism if we do not agree with this.

I thought you would've learned from last time not to pull cards like that this idea would receive more support if it was posted by someone who doesn't pull out racial cards to get his way.

-1 there is no reason for ethnicities. You assume that these aliens have different skin color and stuff is delving way to deep from taking it as a game and making it a reality. Im all for Male and Female, but i dont think there is a need for more then that.

Please stop and ask what would this add to the gameplay?
This is about as useful as along to be able to change the color of in game text.

You know who is racist? YOU ARE. From the sound of it, you think people of different race/ethnicity as different species. Let me tell you something, it's WRONG! you know what's the closest species to us? not another "race" but instead gorillas and monkeys. Is that how you view people of different ethnicity?

All people of whatever ethnicity are of the SAME species. And by the course of evolution, it's unlikely for one planet to hold multiple intelligent species(as they are likely to either war each other or assimilate into one, only exception would be some complete balance between them which by nature of random chance is extremely unlikely).

And then there is the problem with your concept of "ethical features"

Assume that there exist a specific race of aliens that are color blind and thus have no concept of color.
When they look at us humans, do you think they will notice our ethnicity difference?

By the same token, if the "ethnicity" of a race is actually some "energy hue" that is not visible to us, does that make their ethnicity of any importance to us? When we cannot distinct them? Or perhaps their distinction is something that is "subtle" to us that we can see but won't even notice, such as the color of the eye perhaps?

Furthermore, the "race" of canines are vastly different from each other. Who is to say that multiple in game "race" are actually not the same "race" in term of origin/species? Yes there is a back story on all the races, but frankly they are not sufficiently detailed or "well documented" to be certain.

Now I'd say that some customization of avatar would be interesting (which by the way you CAN photoshop yourself, upload as FB avatar and assign as your game avatar). But to assume that it's done by "color" or "hair" etc is a rather ignorant thing.

I -1'd due your poor ability to present ideas in a good fashion. It you hadn't pulled out the race card (again) then this idea might do better.

From adding this into the game, dan must spend time in creating the coding and everything.
This means, he will not be adding new content like the NCPs he just added, because he would be adding this.

As well, there is no added benefit creating and integrating this into the game. It will be a 5 minuite wonder.
As well, by adding this in. You create discrimination against you. with the skin collours ect, making nasty racist comments
come into the game, making this idea worse. You give a child a grenade, he'll blow himself up. Just like this Idea.

Yes other games have this but this game doesn't require it. Thats a good thing.
Adding this into the game will cause much much much MUCH more problems than that 5 minuite thrill.

As well, With any idea. Do not use Threats or abuse or thing that causes offense. Or try to get your own way.
EVERYONE is entitled to their OWN opinion. If it causes offense, take it up with that player or forums mods.

Just stop pulling the race card on everything... Make worthwhile, sensible suggestions and people might +1 them
