So i was just thinking to myself, what would be a good scenario to keep the game interesting for a legion and this is a basic idea that popped up into my head that was based on Sentience Cores for the bases.
So for either a legion wide mission chain unlocked at Base Level 6, or for a set amount of time, the base becomes "Self Aware" and either ejects or kills all it's staff, and after some of the staff/crew of the base escape they send out a Emergency Beacon to fellow legion members to be picked up, and after a certain percentage of the legion completes it enough times to pick up the escape pods the mission would move onto steps to try to take the base over, like disabling shields, disabling weapons, sending Boarding Parties, disabling automatic defenses and hacking/shutting down the base. Adding and taking away players would of course affect how many the legion would need to complete it but it wouldn't start the mission chain over. of course We dont HAVE to turn of the base pick ups and such. just an optional thing to do for the base/legion to get a little more team work. i'll give a basic outline, feel free to write some stuff for story. Also where i put up Player rewards, the reward will only be given to players who actually help with the progression of said mission, and the Base Reward will only be given once after the mission is completed once by the legion members.
Step 1: Pick up survivors. Player Reward: Escape Pod per completion. Adds +5 for Engineer, Tac, Helms, and scientist. Based on the fact most legions are multi species and each of those species have specialties in such fields.
Step 2: Disable the Shields. Base Reward: Some sort of Shield module. After using your weapons to disable your own sheilds you found a way to strengthen your own defenses, creating better shielding.
Step 3: Disable Weapons. Base Reward: Some sort of specialized Hull Module. After Destroying the weapons you found out their weakness and reinforced them with specialized Hull.
Step 4: Send Boarding Parties. Player Reward: Invasion chance Increase. Due to the special experience of having to fight a AI foe your crew is more experienced in specialized Invasion techniques.
Step 5: Hack System and Shut down AI. Base Reward:Friendly AI. After you shut down and repurpose the Hostile AI you use its data to create an AI who views its crew as a Symbiotic life form and there for will help protect it at all costs. Increases Att/def.
As an after thought i felt like i should mention that only the Leaders of the legion would have the right to move the mission onward so that way, if played out right, everyone in the legion can become stronger.
Edit: felt like i should also point out i know some of you would think it would be hard for Dan to put this into the game, which i realize, but i think the easiest way he could do this is by putting it on the mission page like normal, and just write something simple for the base codes.

Thanks for the suggestion. The legion missions system is coming along and should be complete sometime next month. It will be released with missions of varying difficulties and rewards.
