Just pulling this from another thread where i posted it..
Dan is against autoranking, but instead of making ratios even lower (purger mission is just fine now)

Increase the amount of exp per level, now it is static +40 every level, from 1 to 99999999

Simply making something like this
1-100 40exp
101-200 80 exp
201-300 120 exp

Per level instead of always a 40 increment.

Now i can see for those ranks it would be a little unfair so doing that from rank 500 would solve it for a while.


Don't forget the numbers i put there are a example.. personally i think they should increase faster.

That would be interesting. I would agree faster would be needed, some get enough artifacts to easily keep up with that no matter what.


Dan could also put caps on either the Engineers, or all crew like some wanted. (All the ones that don't like the SSB.

I don't agree on caps, one of the great things about GL compared to any other FB game is the freedom of choice on how you do things, if it would be really hard to keep up the engineers for most, it would be good, there will still be some people able to autorank, but in that case it would be more of a achievement than "loophole".

Shouldn't be penalized for starting earlier, and dans gonna have to catch up to the high ranks now.

This would make it easier to keep up for dan.

You are trying to make the same point as the complainers did about the purger mission nerf...

If he starts it at 2200 the damage will already be done.

You are trying to make the same point as the complainers did about the purger mission nerf...

Unless he plans to ignore the highest ranks that damage is done.
If there weren't certain rank limits on npcs it wouldn't be a big deal, but as it is going and changing the whole ranking system after the fact imo isn't fair to the upper ranks.

There is no way to defeat autoranking (which doesnt need to be done anyway imo) without hurting the smaller ships more than anybody. The people who are autoranking have enough energy that it wont matter much if the xp is changed.
Autoranking is just a gameplay strategy just like different sized ship builds are. It has its rewards and drawbacks just like anything else. I imagine the only reason Dan was against it was because then he had to listen to all the complaints about high rank content. That issue has largely been solved now with the exception of the cutoff for to carriers, etc.

Or he could remove the energy refill on rank up. that would stop Auto ranking

Why do people make autoranking out to be so bad? playing the Game requires energy relays are virtually useless at providing you energy so the only way to be able to play is to auto rank...

To fill my energy bar up takes 6 days atm with max recharge am i really expected to wait that long each time i want to rank up? i'd get bored and quit way before then.

people who rank fast choose to rank fast because they enjoy the game we don't even need dan to add more content we just need him to stop taking away all the dam content we enjoy.

There is nothing you can do to stop autoranking unless you remove the free refill you get from ranking.

Ok. There's definitely more balance needed here. We never intended there to be a way to have near-infinite amounts of energy. The amount of free refill could scale down at certain ranks.

Thank you Dan for updating us on your stance on this. Given your last comment, I would suggest instituting a maximum amount of energy refunded upon level up. Maybe 10-15k? Enough to still get a fair amount of things done, but not enough to auto rank at higher ranks.

At this point I can't foresee any changes to rank up refills being met with unanimous consent, as some users will inevitably see it as a punishment.

instead of a hard cap maybe a max of 15k or 35x rank(EDIT: should have said 8.75x rank) whichever is higher.

numbers are somewhat arbitrary, but i dont think there should just be a max to the amount that you get as later on it will get longer and longer between ranks.

Anything with a % or rank based multiplier can only make auto ranking harder to do, but not impossible. It would have to be a set number. Granted the number could be tiered, such as 5k max refill on ships below rank 100, 10k max refill on ships below 2k etc, but it would have to be a set number.

There are already ways to get a 1:1 ratio and even less if people want to autorank then Thats there own fault
