Deleting legion comm posts

I'm guessing this has been suggested before, but a quick search didn't turn it up, so here it is:
I have noticed that there are fairly frequent occasions when it would be very helpful to be able to delete messages from the legion comm. For example, yesterday one of the leaders in my legion sent a message to another legion with only one player inviting her to join us if she wanted. She responded with profanity. Now, regardless of your feelings on sending recruiting messages to other legions, there is little doubt that responding that way is inappropriate. Apart from the issue of whether such a thing should be reported, I would like the ability to delete the messages from our legion comm. It only shows up on the officer comm, but it is still there and will remain there for at least a few days until it gets pushed down the page.
A second occasion in which it would be nice to delete messages is when messages that are supposed to be on the officer comm are accidentally placed in the general legion comm. I realize that all someone has to do is be careful when posting messages, but sometimes mistakes happen. In a recent case, we had someone join our legion who we suspected might be trying to recruit for another legion. We were discussing it on the officer comm and someone mistakenly posted a comment to the legion comm about it. Not that big of a deal ultimately, but it could have created some issues, particularly if the suspected headhunter was not really there to recruit and was upset about being falsely accused. This is just one example of a time when it would be very useful to be able to delete comments.
If the power to delete messages were given, I would recommend it be limited only to leaders or perhaps to officers. That would allow the legion to chat without worrying about the new guy in the legion randomly deleting posts either by accident or intentionally. It would also allow the leaders to take necessary steps if someone within the legion is being abusive toward other players or otherwise abusing the legion comm and hiding it by deleting any offending messages. If there is concern about abuse of this power from leaders, first of all, get new leaders or join a different legion because yours obviously suck, and second, a limit on the number of posts that can be deleted each day could be implemented.
I realize there will be some who would view this as a limit on the freedom of expression. However, there must necessarily be limits on that freedom. Abusive or hateful speech should not be protected and I don't think we should have to rely on Dan to address every single instance of it within the game. If the problem is significant enough to warrant his attention, he should certainly be informed. If it is a less severe case of someone being somewhat offensive, or even of someone accidentally posting to the legion comm instead of the officer comm, the issue should be able to be addressed by the legion leadership. Being able to control membership is great, since you can boot the offender if you feel it is necessary, but it would be nice to also be able to delete the offensive comm posts.

-1 I think this would create more problems than it would solve.

Quote: concern about abuse of this power from leaders I don't think leaders or officers need the power to censor coms. If someone is in your legion is abusive there is already an easy solution. warn them and then kick them if it continues. and when it comes time to kick someone for abusive coms the whole legion will be able to see why and be able to judge if it was warranted. yes misplaced officer coms happen, but whatever is said in officer coms shouldn't be that big of deal being accidentally said in regular legion coms. and can be helpful in generating more input into a situation. if someone is being abusive in coms i want to see it so it does get handled and not swept under the rug.

How do you kick someone that's not even in their legion? The real problem with deleting com is removing previously said stuff after some discussion have already been made on the matter and thus causing a misleading result. I would propose the option of instead hiding the com, as opposed to being deleted. Hidden com would be still visible if a leader go check out the hidden archive or whatever, but would not remain in the comm section to annoy people etc.
