OK, when doing a scan run, everytime a planet gets scanned, there is delay on the browser as it reloads/reparses (or whatever) the planet list. Dan, please program things so that this refresh is not done if the planet scan window is still open. Thanks.

I quite like the fact it does that, means that while scanning you can see any good planets that you find which jump to the top of the list (supposing you have the filter sort set in richness order.

Yeah, I recommended this at one point as well.

I agree with this sentiment. Unless when you scan, the planet image also shows the stats listed below the scan, this planet list refreshing after every new scan, is the only way to know if that crystal you scanned is a Colossal 17x or an average abundant pile of crap.

To be fair, actually opening every planet except Barrens, Deserts, Volcanics, Gases, and Metallics would probably make scanning much faster than the current system.

You wanna open a few hundred or even a thousand planets? You must be bored
Doing that you could miss something that's usually crap but has been uplifted to something good. Say a volcanic primed for Demonising, or a gas, or a desert, or anything. Saying that, I've got a Desert that's only a week off being doing with my talth ability, then it's down to the luck of crystals. Anyone could miss that.

The faster you blitz on a scan the more chance you have at finding a dyson, If you go at one every 5 seconds.
its near impossible to find one, if you rapidly search for planets. the chances of finding them are increase.

This is what i have experienced, its not a theory of mine.

I +1 this with a option to turn automatic refresh back on

On the comment of checking to see if theres good planet. are you going to stop a scanning blitz at any point just to conquer a colossal?
I wouldn't. its still going be there for another 30 minutes. i think many others wouldn't either.

Plus an hour scan would be more like 15 minutes to find 1,000 planets. (if you can achieve that scanning power).

This, OR. Don't refresh the current list, but only newly scanned planets.
All the lag is coming from the existing list, if you were to refresh only the newly scanned planets the lag should be much less, especially the higher rank you are and owned planets (means you scan less)

Call me crazy, but isn't that why there's a "Recently Scanned" tab?
Image
When ever I do a scan run, I click that when I'm done.
Every planet I just scanned is there and ready to be flagged.

Yes there is, but it will still refresh the "all planets" list, which makes it lag.

OK, I don't mind that the list refreshes, per se, It's just that this refresh amounts to a temporary "freeze-up" of the browser.

Nice in theory, but wont be as effective as you might think. It'll still have to get the data from All Planets in order to filter them out. It'll only save on the outputting, which is something.

Of course. Perhaps it could just query the data from that specific planet and add it on to the planet list. It's clearly already getting that data to test cloak (or not so). Concatenation is probably quicker than re-loading everything.

Concatenation is *definitely* quicker. This is why all modern web apps just send change information when responding to a request, and the client (typically via javascript) either updates an existing block of html or generates a new block from a template and inserts it into the current document (web page).

Pretty sure this would suit both parties, too. It would reduce the lag immensely, whilst keeping the full update. Sorting doesn't take any time, so it wouldn't be hard for the game to resort it after adding the data onto the end.
