Thought it'd be neat to have this on a player's stat page. You gain +1 infamy for every successful disable, raid or hack that does NOT earn you a badge. In other words, you've performed that action on the same player recently, or they are out of your badge range. Infamy never goes away, so you're stuck with your legacy forever.

Would be fun to see just how high this would go on some ships. Could also influence some people to take a jab at ships with higher infamy, but that's all up to the player at that point. Infamy could theoretically have an impact on your combat reputation as well, opening up new possibilities for titles there.

I dunno, just throwing something out there. Could be a fun psychological aspect to the game.

I mean really the only thing this is going to do is encourage large amounts of people to multi-hit and then we're gonna get X amount of threads whining about it.

In theory it's a psychological deterrent for people to multi hit, to avoid getting smacked on by people who see high infamy. On the flip side, it allows for someone who WANTS to be hit more to have another stat to do so.

I can see the PotC Legionwide multi-hitting to get their "Pirate Infamy"

I can see Icarium getting a high infamy.

I can see Rebel getting a high infamy.

I can see 10+ threads a day pop up about being multi-hit.

I can see the benefit of having such a stat and it'd definitely make things interesting for a little while, but I feel it would be abused too quickly. Especially if there were a medal or small artifact market. It would have to balance going the other way on the scale too.

I personally don't know how (in the original context) something that does nothing except track your non-badge actions can be abused. All you'd be doing is changing a number.

Which is EXACTLY why I think there should be no rewards for high or low infamy. It would just be there as a stat. The most I would say is having a leaderboard for "Most Infamous Players".

Yeah. Not even leaderboards. I'll stand by my original no-reward-just-ship-stat idea.

I'm not trying to be difficult, it's just boring this time of night. :P

I am fine with the title, but Infamy is of course suggesting the player did something wrong, devious, or somehow less than chivalrous. However, if the higher rank is responding to an alert or simply protecting his/her legion mates against a smaller ranked aggressor, they they would be acquiring Infamy points unjustly. Just because you hit outside of your badge range doesn't instantly make you the bad guy.

It sounds mischievous to me.

Just make it so there is no change on alerted enemies.

You should know by now no matter how great an idea is some peanut brain is gonna put it down and pick it apart because its not what they want in the game .

Im all for it and I know id be pretty high on the infamy level

+1 if each badge action decreases infamy and increases fame.

I actually see less whining personally. The main reason people whine (at least from what i've seen) is that they can't comprehend the person's reasoning for multi hitting. Add a reason other then medals and I see less whiners. So +1 to infamy.

Maybe add a counter-balance to it. People can zero people to get Infamy points but if your alerted and zero'd while under an alerted status, the legion-mates and the person who alerted you should be able to earn "Valor Points".

So now we have 2 new stats, Infamy for people that zero without cause and Valor for people zeroing to defend there legion-mates. Coding could be a pain but there must be some way for Dan to track the difference when someone is alerted vs when someone isn't.

It won't matter to passive people but I for one would love to earn valor proving I'm loyal to my legion fighting an aggressor.

Valor points would encourage a lot of people to alert you for badge hits though. :?

Post subject:  Re: Stats: Infamy

People get alerted for badge hits anyways, maybe allow valor points only if the people alerted has more than 25 actions. There's got to be a way to make fair or at least less abused.

I like it. Simple, easy, and people don't panic because they hit someone again after 11 hrs and 45 mins and have their spotless record stained.

hmmph....

Its a interesting concept especially with the way to take it down in terms of "infamy" by doing badging hits...

but if we're making it a popularity contest lol why not try this:

Once every 12 hours you may select a player on your news feed (in that 12 hour period) as worthy of infamy...

make it a leaderboard stat so the top 50 least popular (because thats what it really is) people of the moment can be seen...

maybe make it clear weekly or bi-weekly, with the top 10 killable just like the kills scoreboard

you will have some race for it and some will try and get away from it...

get it often enough in a period of time and you get a medal, reward ship design - grinning skull like design
