the factor to which you gain this ability is undecided but could be something like;

if your hack count > enemy hack count:

you get an option to try to bypass a halcyon trap, costs 200 energy, cool down 30 mins (maybe more or less).

or at say 10,000 hacks you unlock an ability somewhere along those lines.

That would be bad. All the solid shipbuilders from beginning will drop us like paper now.

it wouldn't stop you from re-setting another trap right away

I very rarely use Halcyon Traps, and I say no to this. It is designed so that you gain a modicum of safety from other people. It is a part of PvP, and if you don't like it, suck it up, because it's a part of the game that is NOT going away.
These posts annoy me so much..... By the way, you might have to quote me to even see this. :P

Well to this I say, why not make it so cloak can be higher then scan so we have no pvp at all?

People who use Halcyon traps get red badged anyway, they set a kvt, an then a Halcyon, attacker hits the kvt uses a null and then hits a Halcyon trap, wait 2 hours and get the red anyway or use the 30 min cooldown ability and get the red badge without the wait. Its an ability worth such a feat as doing 10k hacks.

How about instead if you hit someone's halc you get -50% attack for 1 hour that can't be removed?

Returning the favor a bit for all the complaining lately about people hitting halcs, if you can't read an action count that's your fault. Instead you could ask that the effect of a calming amp be extended AND keep someone from appearing on the battle tab, and you would see much less halcs on it.

halcs and calming amps are there to protect players that dont pvp as much. yes they still get disabled but fewer is better.
Why do you think only people that havent made any offensive actions in the past 24 hours can use them?

*EPIC FACEPALM*

That moment when some can't read an action count or bother to use a trap probe.
