Just a visual marker for alerted planets. Or make them all go into a new planet filter and allow them to be flagged. I think the latter is easier but I could be wrong. Either way it would be nice to not have to open up each planet to see if I am wasting a purger, kind of defeats the purpose of the quick bar.

OR

Make planets "not" on your scan be ineligible for purging.

I'm fine with a failbox when attempting to purge a shared planet. I could be wrong, but I would think that would be the easiest way to go coding-wise. No matter how it's done though, it NEEDS to happen. As more and more people "need" to alert random planets and are using more and more purgers, something's gotta be done about it.

This is something a lot of us know about I'm sure, to the point some might argue it's not a bug, but it seems to me that the behavior is not desired or likely intended, so I'm posting it here.

Using a purger on an alerted planet consumes the purger, does not purge the planet and probably should just not work on an alerted planet. That seems like the easiest and best fix. After doing runs of Stellar Cartography at a low return just to get purgers, the last thing I want to do is realize I accidentally wasted 3.750 energy on some alerted planets and didn't even take them off my list.

Agreed. Since the purger does not work on an alerted planet, then the action of trying to use it should not consume the purger. This would make the behavior similar to other artis that cannot be used in certain situations.

Thank you Wolfy Minion for saving me some search time. If you don't mind, I'm retitling this thread to use it as a "hub" for any "purging alerted planets" discussion.

There was another thread that made it longer than either of the two merged ones currently in here. A bit of going back should bring it up. Too tired to do it for ya and give a link, still need coffee and a smoke.

i think if we could leave a message on a planet players could agree on a purge or sale of the planet . we have the artifact to see who has a planet scanned , why not then be able to message them too ?
