I know we all have had a few "spare" GP laying around and it is never enough to buy anything with. So why not be able to buy badges with GP.

Hey, I know, while he's at it, why doesn't he just let you buy mission completions, base crates, legion mission modules, and hell, why not rank points and dyson scans too. In fact, if this is done right, you won't even have to play anymore, all you'll need to do is click PayPal.

You can buy badges with GP, just indirectly. You use GP for refills, more arti production (eventual stronger ship), etc to support your ability to get badges.

Sure why not. It'd be just like buying contiuum beacons with gp. A complete waste of gp. Just pvp for them

It's not that bad of an idea. If you have, say, 1GP laying around...you can't do anything with that. So make 1 badge of your choice cost 1GP. To prevent folk from just buying hundreds of GP and buying badges, perhaps make it a requirement that you can only buy badges if you have less than 5 GP.

My feeling is that badges ought to be earned rather than bought. RED: These aren't exactly hard to earn - disable a player. Even someone who's "laughable" just needs to target a fellow laughable lol. YELLOW: Once you've disabled a fellow laughable, just click 'Raid' - not exactly difficult. You'll eventually get it right (i.e. the badge, not the button click). BLUE: I find that clicking 'Hack' normally gets me a blue badge. Even easier than the above 2 badges. DARK: Disable Stryll Assassins and RSL Siege Cannons - even a laughable player can do that. Surely?! SILVER: Be in a good legion that alerts enemy bases fairly frequently, be in the top whatever for rewards. Even 1 hit can nab you a silver badge. GREEN: Many big legions have an agreement to pass about football planets to get green badges. So really, I can't see the need to buy badges for GP's. I fancied getting my final 2 protean armories recently - I went on a raiding blitz, got the armories in less than a week. And it FEELS like an achievement too. Nevertheless, if this idea nets more money for Dan, then I'm all for it. I have no qualms with people wanting to spend money on their ship

The battle market offers items that are meant to be EARNED. Buying them with GP would make it way to easy if you have the money to spend on it. And GP would be much better spent on qse's, transfusers, and energy refills. Those would increase your ap and make you ship stronger and easier to autorank. If you can't autorank and want to get through a mission chain quickly, pvp like a madman, or npc for hours on end, energy refills are good. Also, the more something costs, the more meaningful it is when you finally achieve it.

-1, I remember this suggestion when badges were first released. Time did not make it any better.

GREEN: Many big legions have an agreement to pass about football planets to get green badges. Ummmmm Footballing a planet isn't earning the badge in the slightest.

Might I add that this concept, where you can basically "buy everything" has ruined another game that I play. The majority of the content in this game is acquired through chance, therefore getting it is usually quite hard. When special "payment only" events come around where there is an increased chance of getting acquiring this content, those who can afford it fly ahead of those who cannot and it's created a huge imbalance in the game.
Similar to this game, if we could just "buy" badge items them people would be too far ahead. They'd have the Tri-Blasters and the new Biospheric Decimators long before everyone else, thus giving them a greater advantage before anyone can begging to catch up thus leading to an uneven playing field.

This is true, but just time itself has the same effect. For example, everyone who started playing 2 years before I did (whether they paid for stuff or not) is way ahead of me. It doesn't "ruin" the game. When I attack them on my BT, I take 2K-3K damage and deal like 200 damage simply because they've been collecting prisoners for 3 times as long as I have. It's just part of the game. The longer you play and the more money you put into it, the bigger you will be.

My apologies, I didn't mean to question your ethics, nor your actions If they feel like wasting their invasion timer on a badge, rather than a badge AND a decent planet, so be it. But, Dan has himself already said that he is not fond of footballs, so that's that.
