Ok, I know research legions are a thing, I know people use them, That being said, I think its devaluing research. ALOT, I have seen VERY low ranks with VERY high end tech I would like to see say a low cap like can only join legions starting rank 100 or something. let non legion players before though ranks have a chance.

If you join a research legion as a low rank you are sacrificing the artifact production you can get from a good 5-6-7 legion that is accepting all ranks.

There are gives and takes to joining a research legion: you get your hull/guns/scanners/etc faster, but your perma-buffs suffer greatly. It's fine as is.

Research is finite, artifacts are not. IMO ppl who stay for extended periods of time in research legions are shooting themselves in the foot, but everyone has a different play style.

I would recommend you staying in the research base only until you finished your +10 (not +12) and Nexus hulls. Next, move on to arti bases :)

My point was its toxic for the game to have so many low levels sitting with that kind of tech. Its going to munch all the casual players out, What would have a 1.5 years ago been a rank 200-300 tech now rank 50's have. It creates an enviroment where only the ultra competitve and compeat.

I'll have to disagree. I've been sitting in high end arti base legions (Lv. 7 and 8) since I reset, I and i find that my ship is stronger than most others in my rank, especially those who have been sitting in research legions for the same amount of time.

I think you are still missing my point, your still sitting in a legion. Artifact or Reserch you are still pumping yourself far behond what a "normal" player would be at that point in the game, it makes it difficult for casual players to get in to the game if when they start to get up afew ranks they hit this wall of legion wall flowers that have stats that are just so far behond them they can do nothing combat wise.

Nothing stopping them joining a legion when they start...

It all comes back to a long known problem with the game, there isn't a decent enough introduction to the game for beginners that actually tells you what can be done

well... most of the times when you join a game, you SHOULD immediately join a guild/alliance/legion or whatever the name is. Go to the forum, ask around to figure out how the game 'should' be played (ofc there's numerous way to play, but we need to know what kind of mistake that is reversible and what is not)

Well, to do well in a game, you have to step up to the plate, not just collect resources each day. No one learns what to do in an instant, we all played "casually" once and built up from there as we saw what people around/below/above us were doing. "Normal" is a subjective term, as the average shifts with time. Level 6 bases are far more common than they were a year ago, and virtually all that have interest in the game will have easy access to level 6+ bases.

Actually, most "normal" players are "sitting" in a legion. The legions are an important part of the game. At this time in the game, pretty much any player can get into a Lv. 6+-7 base legion, even some 8's are accepting low ranks now, not even speaking of 5's. If you're not in a legion, when most of the other people are, that's your own concern. No need to complain about other people having an advantage that you chose not to take.

Actually, I believe the game started without the legion feature....


But yeah, I agree with you in principle.

It didn't have legions in the current form, It just used the people on your friends list who played GL to calculate bonuses and such. It sucked, but i still have people on my list from those days :P

I think the legion base production for lowbies is cool, it helps speed them up to catch the old farts around here and encourages them to log on daily for more than just the daily reward. It helps everyone... cause more badgable ships pop up every day ;)
