I think it could be a good idea to allow players to choose what they research. Note: This would only work if new research tiers were available! Add 2 new modules to each/some of the research trees - players have the choice to choose one or the other to research. Once you begin researching one you loose the choice to research the other. This give players control over what they research and allows them to decide what they want. Each new modules give something unique like a % bonus or unlockable ability. Example: 2 new attack modules, one that gives a perm invasion bonus (2% per module - 8 modules max, 16% boost) and another that gives a perm NPC attack bonus (1.5% per module - 8 modules max, 12% boost) These full bonuses would only be available on the "Heavy" or tier 3 weapons i.e. "light" = no bonus "Medium" = half max bonus (0.5%, 1% etc) "Heavy" = Full bonus unlocked (1.5%, 2% etc Percents can be changed - just a suggestion. The weapons stats could be (not got names): Size - "light" = 50 "Medium" = 52 "Heavy" = 54 Upkeep - "light" = 500M "Medium" = 625M "Heavy" =750M Attack - "light" = 320 "Medium" = 340 "Heavy" = 360 Yes, these would be researched after Heavy Quasi-Chaotic Blasters. The idea with these is they give less attack but provide a % boost. This is just a thought. Feel free to give Constructive criticism! Crazor |

The main problem with your idea (assuming people like the idea) is how to implement it without upsetting existing players. People who started playing a while ago, or even just a few weeks ago, will have already started researching a few different research types - you can't unmake the cake once you've made it. The only thing that can be done from my point of view is to add new research trees or extend existing ones - it would upset the balance if you started removing or radically changing stuff. How would you 'remove' a ship module from someone who already researched it a year ago, just because they "didn't choose that particular branch"? |

It would still be nice to see, but if the great Dan has spoken then ![]() squodge wrote: The main problem with your idea (assuming people like the idea) is how to implement it without upsetting existing players. Well, I don't remember saying *that* ![]() Though, for obvious reasons, there is a limit to the amount of speed reduction we can introduce. It's possible that a new conduit/relay will get added, however. (It may be the last) as I read that we might get a new Tier of relays..... or it might be a new relay, droped by an NPC / mission cant say for sure but if Dan Might make new realys, we might also get more recearch Tiers in other fields for weapons I think you are right, next tier would have an imposible upkeep increase for almost no attack gain |
