If you're going to lock a thread, can you always post stating why it was locked? I don't like seeing threads locked and having to guess why.

EDIT: Actually, it would be nice to see a notice if a thread has been moved too. It causes a bit of confusion when a thread magically bounces from one forum to another, and you've gotta go through them all to find it.

Why not just use the "View New Posts" link on the top right? Then you don't have to worry about what section they are in?

While that would work, it's besides the point. When you start doing things without letting the forum users know, you take away the feeling of control and a community. Just a little note to make people happy, is all I'm asking for.

Personally, I vote -1.

A forum full of those ghost links just teaches people it is okay to post where they want, the management will clean it up.

I think Darth is referring to this thread:
viewtopic.php?p=388172#p388172

That thread was set up to warn players of known players that exploit
the game, steal from legions, or are looking to ruin the rep of a legion they join.

If it's in the interests of the mods not to have players post there, then so be it.
I guess those players will go unnoticed and ruin the game for those
who have built up on it these past years.

Yeah, usually on forums, moderators will say why a thread was locked in the thread. Also for most a shadow topic is left in the original section, and when you click it you're directed to the topic in the new section...

No, that's a perfect example of what I'd like to see. A reason so that it's understood why a thread was locked/moved. (Not so much moved, but stating where it was moved from and moved to would be awesome).
