that dark badged comsic rail gun. can it unlock an ability after its fully upgraded? Maybe some thing to spawn a new dark npc? that drops randomly 1 of 10 thingys or some thing I dont know. but some thing fun would be nice.

6699 dark badges is a lot. I agree it should have some sort of activated ability when fully upgraded.

It is a lot, but the module itself is very good.

Chances are Dan would probably just chuck in something stupid like: "+5% NPC attack, lasts 5 minutes, costs 80 GP to charge." :roll:

But I do hope some simple yet useful ability - a one time attack ignoring defense and damage cap on a NPC/player ?

The more I think about this the more I think something like this would be a great ability for it. Not only is the price of the gun itself high but consider how much you need to use for your best planets also.

2 quantum accelerators @104 each = 208
4 Acceration protocols @228 each = 912
3 magnetosphere chargers @120 each =360

That's 1480 badges per planet. Granted you aren't going to use this on anything but your best worlds but that's still a ton of npc kills.

You guys talking passive ability, as in constant, or activated for, say, 4 hours?

Would definitely be interesting either way.

I do, as of about a week after it was released.
And i know of several others who have it done. Most likely there are over 50 people who are done with it, and more will follow as time goes on. So I'd say it is worth doing.

Passive would be nice, but if activated I'd agree with a minimum of 4 hours. NPCing takes up a lot of time.

Only took me a week to get it fully upgraded too. I think most high ranks have either completed it, or avoided it because of the high cost and lack of ability.

I think it's a good idea for this weapon to have an ability maybe an increased spawn rate of 20% for all the dark smugglers guild npc's lasts 8 hours, 20 hour cool down or something along those lines.

I'm rank 542 and I have 1565 Dark Badges only medals points (655 currently) are holding me back from getting the cosmic rail and i'll likely have more dark badges by the time I have the medals for the weapon

You chose to buy the gun knowing what the rewards were and the costs.
No reason this gun should be upgraded with an ability or altered in any way except maybe an upgrade next year with new badge items.

Changing the gun now would be a slap in the face to people who chose not to buy it.

Imagine the people who need months to accumulate the badges for this that chose to buy other dark badge artifacts.
Now Dan just tosses an ability onto the gun and you have to watch people flaunt their new ability while you spend more months getting the gun.

No, but seriously though, you make a good case. I just can't help but feel a little cheated. For most people, it's a lot of work getting the badges and upgrading the weapon, so they just dont do it. I think if it had an ability, more people would be interested in it.
