I recognize this( Forum topics are not the proper place to bring up inter-legion conflicts. If these threads get out of hand, they will be deleted without notice.) is the approved GL policy on this point.
I'm asking that this part of the policy be re-considered.
My reasons - half the time the way people find things out if they are not directly involved is the forums. - I daresay its not the news of the conflict itself that was the basis of the ban but the flamewars that sometimes came about... Isn't this why we have mods though? They use the discretion as they see fit to lock topics and/or further actions as needed so if this restriction was changed to at a moderator's discretion I don't see the harm. - in wars, public opinion matters, in GL public opinion being swayed may see a change in the parties at war or a end or escalation as appropriate to the hostilities...
I respect the forum rules, but I think to a certain extent this one is not followed in any event - lets make it official so there is no issue of hypocrisy claimed on it.

That's an excellent idea. As long as it does not result in a flamewar or get out of hand. If the parties can come and show their side in a civilized manner why not. As you said, sometimes conflicts are started and people don't even know they are in the midst of one because nothing has been declared publicly.
But--people lie. I've caught some people in some pretty good ones regarding conflicts in the past. I was right there, witnessed what was happening and they still lied. lol. Maybe it's not such a good idea after all.
If a forum for declarations of war is wanted maybe a separate board would be ideal instead of bringing it here.

I can't recall if I explained this in a public post or if in a PM with someone, but I was asked about this specific rule. My interpretation is that the second part of that rule implies that it's acceptable to post an interlegion conflict so long as it stays under control. It's when things get crazy that problems occur and the moderators need to step in. That's how I've been treating such threads and from what I've seen, Mr.Spock is of a similar mind.

Thank you for the link. I had thought I made a post on the subject previously, but dinner was cooking and I didn't want to burn it while using the ever lovable Search feature.
