As the game evolves, newer NPCs to challenge the masses are appearing, some with special abilities new to the game. What about adding new traps for players to use, not just for the passives but the active PvPers as well. An energy draining trap that when sprung drains some extra energy from the attacker, a one shot drain of say 50. Maybe a targetlock trap, when activated, the lock is lost and the attack is aborted, you fall off his BT, (although he could always find you again). Not really a trap idea but targeted areas of ships would be cool forPvP and might bypass some traps altogether or targeted areas can have their own traps. Just seeing how NPCs are evolving, we should too. I'm also thinking that hack related traps/effects have been ignored, computer virus' are a threat now, and many do different things. How bout a virus trap resembling counterhacking, but grants a penalty that can't be removed by a null for a short duration.
It would be cool to see some new effects and traps pop up that do more than just have an effect that can be nulled or an effect that takes you out of the fight for 4 hours. Keep the halcs for the passives, give the others something to liven things up.

An Aegis trap, when activated restores shields to full or maybe with a bonus, or regenerates shields at an ungodly rate. An energy pulse trap, releasing a wave of negative energy instantly negating buffs (maybe on both ships as a balance). A silent no warning given, hack trap that increases the chances of a counterhack considerably after the first, giving multi hackers pause. An auto SOS beacon, activated when your disabled by the same ship in a two hour period, automatically posts the offender to your legion as hostile.
Some races can have trap/effects that only they can use, like the Federation uses phasers and klingons use disruptors, it's race specific, and can also have a variety of effects besides going to sleep for 4 hours.

I think a trap that regenerates health of some sort or another would be nice, and not so infuriating that PVPers might flip out too much. They might be better than straight up damage causers. Or perhaps a trap that damages enemy attack, or a trap that buffs the attackee's defense.

Not liking the energy draining trap idea, but others are good. +1

The Omnicron trap is useless after rank 250 or so. I still use them, don't know why. lol. Maybe an upgraded version of the trap that shows up from a new NPC in the battle tab for those above rank 500.

If the non pvpers get all the protection they want from the nasty predatory pvpers then there won't be any pvp at all, the game gets segregated, people get bored faster and that's no good. The new traps idea is to improve game experience, you know, through something different, make it exciting again, not necessarily to protect the whiners.

You use Omicron to make thetacron traps, so there is already an upgraded version.

Then there are gammacron traps from legion missions.

:O What's this? a player who admits that they ONLY target non pvpers?

PvPers are always claiming that they go after /everyone/ instead of just the laughables, so your argument is already invalid~

Did you know....Not all non pvpers are whiners?

The fact that pvpers can circumvent these by keeping a tab open for several hours means it does very little if anything at all Spacyboy~

whilst i agree with the fact that new traps would be nice, passive traps are pointless... IT would be alot better to scrap the halc trap and extend the calming amp period to 8 or 12 hours and maybe have an upgraded item from a repeatable mission which uses say 10 calming amps and gives a similar artifact but one which means you can't be hacked either?

+1 to this.
I vote for no more traps, but rather combat improvement, that would by much funnier. As i mentioned in another topic, quick access slots, status effects would be good.
I cant say how do you expect to have more than few targeting areas when all players have different ship designs and most of them aren't quite handy to make out where their guns or thrusters are.
Adding to that, when player disables another, he does that when his victim are offline (my guess that's 95% of the cases). How will targeting areas help when victim can be disabled as it is, because (again, 95% of the time) hunted is weaker than the hunter?
To make game more fun i'd rather think of some new activities (and throughly think about the consequences of change would propose), but even if i had that kind of idea, i would start another topic, of course.

I think there needs to be a real damaging trap, similar to (but not as powerful) as a gammacron trap, since those are effective, but need Galaxy Points in order to be used more than a few times.

But, I see no reason why a "trap" that when triggered, regenerates some of the ship's shields, hull, or increases attack and defenses. Are PVPers too scared to fight a suddenly slightly more buffed ship? Just a slight challenge, since a lot of high level people are capable of smashing almost everybody. I think more, exotic, but balanced traps would be a nice addition.

Yes I know, some of you want to be completely untouchable and left out of pvp all together. I see by your posts that you are one of these people. When you play Pac-Man, I bet you wish deep down that there were no ghosts chasing you around the maze. Im sure you would rather be able to eat all the dots in complete safety wouldnt you.

Your point about people leaving a tab up to wait out a halc is BS, I mean people dont normally do this for every halc they hit.its a waste. I might do it occasionally when I have a beef with someone and they are trying to hide from me, but to leave every halced ship up in a different tab is just stupid. Especially when that person could come online at anytime and re set their halc before the timer is up.. Ive been chasing YAMAN around the galaxy for weeks trying to get through his halcs unsuccessfully.

ffs people, we dont need anymore traps. We have krios which make you burn nulls(they are also good for making it near impossible to disable anyone online).Passive people have calming amps and halcs to keep their precious little ships safe and sound for the most part. Big deal, you have to take a disable every now and then because you cant be online all the time to make sure your halc is constantly set..Boo Hoo for you.If you can be on every 6 hours, you could make your ship invincible. We have damage traps.Yes the omicron is next to useless, but they can be used to make theta traps which do more damage. Not to mention gemini cannons and gamma traps. We have firewalls to help against hackers.
There is NO NEED for more traps..period..dying is part of the game if you are passive or aggressive, deal with it or find another game to play..Oh wait, i cant think of 1 single game that allows you to be completely safe from death or failure, that is what makes a game, a game.

In games where /I/ Choose to place myself in Pvp, I have no issue with being killed. I however have an issue with this bs premise that many pvpers have that "pvp is mandatory, and as such WE pvpers deserve to kill your ship".

As for traps, Omicron is useless, as is theta because unless you're online they'll just repair and keep going, gemini is the same deal~

unless you hit a halcyon or run out of energy, it is literally impossibly to fail at disabling someone who's offline~

As with your own wording, if you don't like people suggesting things for non-pvpers, then deal with it or find another game that'll force everyone to pvp nonstop~

So with the greatest of respect, stfu or gtfo ;)

Ummm, this game has a battle tab in which every person that plays the game will show up on.Therefore, pvp /IS/ mandatory. Just by joining this game /you/ have chosen to place yourself in pvp. Now that doesnt mean that /you/ have to push the attack button, that is /your/ choice. But the simple fact of the matter is that this game will involve you in pvp if you want it to or not because pvp is a large part of the game. Is it the only part of the game? Of coarse not, there are many great aspects to this game that have nothing to do with pvp. It is obvious that you enjoy those aspects of the game more than pvp and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, you must accept the fact that you have to deal with being found on bt and attacked just like every other player in the game and accept the fact that nobody should be immune to it. We dont need an option to remove ourselves from bt, we dont need to alter our existing traps and we dont need to add more traps that hide you or prevent you from being disabled, the system is just fine..

As for traps, Omicron is useless, as is theta because unless you're online they'll just repair and keep going, gemini is the same deal~

None of these traps were ever designed to "prevent" anyone from being disabled. They are simply there to do extra damage to the attacker to make it more difficult and more costly to kill you. They are also there, other than geminis, to warn you that you are being attacked when you are online to give yourself a chance to defend yourself. These traps are doing their jobs just fine, there is NO need to add more of them.

unless you hit a halcyon or run out of energy, it is literally impossibly to fail at disabling someone who's offline~

and this is why the halc and calming amps were put into the game. They are the 2 things that "can" prevent you from being disabled. combining these 2 artifacts gives you at the very least, 6 hours in which you cannot be disabled. the more you log in, the more you can reset them. All the way to the point of being completely invincible. It just depends on how much you log in. Obviously Dan wants us all to log in as much as possible, therefore making it so those who log in more get more protection from these artis makes sense. These 2 artis are doing their job just fine, there is NO need to add more traps that prevent you from being disabled.

As with your own wording, if you don't like people suggesting things for non-pvpers, then deal with it or find another game that'll force everyone to pvp nonstop~

I have no problem with any suggestions made here on the forums, but if i disagree with them i will give my opinion as I did here.
I play this game because I like ALL aspects of this game. Its a great game in many ways, not just pvp. The only part of this game i really dont like is missions. They are boring and seem to take forever and they can drain my energy bar in like 30 seconds. However, I do the missions anyway and often because even though I dont like doing missions, I understand and accept that they are a large part of the game and need to be done to better my ship. Just because you dont like pvp, it would be wise to do it anyway because you need the badges to help your ship and too help your legion to scan. It also improves combat rep. Lets face it, some ships get bumped, others disabled. You dont need more traps added to the game to keep your death count down, you dont even have to be a pvper, you just need to build yourself a nice ship and combat rep. Its not that difficult

So with the greatest of respect, stfu or gtfo ;)

yes, so respectful you are.

there, Ive said my peace.
