constantly hitting 1000's against flamehawks and the constant 500's against other things is really annoying, make an artifact to increase the damage cap against NPC's for an amount of time.
something like +50% damage cap on non player enemies for 2 hours
could make it a 30% drop on shockfighters or something, maybe an ability even, just anything to implement this please haha

and it wouldnt be as overpowered as some might think, most npc's would be unaffected its just the annoying energy wasters like flamehawks and such.

it wont happen

Dan is using the Cap based on Rank to make NPC's like the
Rank 400 Bralkir Ritualist / Bralkir Vicar hard to kill even for high rank players

rank 400 = cap 1000 vs Hull: 250,000 = a minimum of 250 attacks or 1250 energy

and it's the same with the legion mission NPC's, like Galakis Pirate
rank 200 = cap 500 vs hull 40.000 = 80 attacks or 400 energy



also what you are sugesting is basicly a -x% exp artifact for killing NPC's
as each time you save a hit, you also get 7 to 15 less exp on the kill

-xp would be good cause when you have to much energy of more you waste it when you lvl up

no, theire are already abilityes like
VARA Interface (Requires 200 Energy.), Bainar, Systems Cracker ( Costs 500 Energy) etc

hacking

The TC lab

and

the Stellar Cartography mission, (75 energy = 50 exp)


you can use to get rid of your energy before you rank
if that isnt enougth you could just have put less points into Engineers

I have 33K energy, but can easily rank by throwing 18K into NPC's. Putting 2K into the base per rank, I still have 13K energy left over, per rank.
I mostly end up throwing 3-4K into the purger mission, then donating what's left to rank.
I'd put more into the purger mission, but I run out of EM pretty quick.
The CT Lab is good for a few hundred energy a day with my 5-digit arti production, so if I don't rank more than once every other week, I can use that to shed the excess. But come on, who ranks that slow?
I also hate PVP, so I don't have the systems cracker, and as far as hacking goes... You know how many hacks it takes to burn away 8K+ energy, right? I'd end up hacking ships for 3 days between each rank.. Plus, it removes my halcyon.
And there are people with a lot more energy than me.
Not saying I'm for this idea, but still, some people don't consider the few hundred energy drained by stuff like the VARA Interface to make a big difference.

I know theire are players out theire with Huge energy bars, Hallucinations have around 80K max energy, JohnMcAuley have around 121K max energy acording to viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39877
but never heard any of those complain about not beeing able to use theire energy

if you have 13K leftover energy pr rank you dont know what to do with, you could have spendt 7K less points on Engineers
but as some legion mission Task requre 10K energy on artifact use without any exp gain, I dont realy consider 13K energy a wast, it more an ensurance that even if you do a task like that, you can still compleet it and rank anytime you want

depending on your race, Allies (and what rank they have), mission abilityes and ship systems you can easily end up using 500 to 1000 energy on abilityes pr day = 3500 to 7000 energy pr week

and with some of the new TC lab Items requiring 200 energy to make + 400 energy to put on planets
it realy not that hard to dump a few K's worth of energy into the lab + deploying artifacts when you end up with energy you need to get rid of before ranking
unless you already have Polaron Emitter and Toxic Processing Plant on all your planets

You are correct, there are plenty of things to dump energy into, and I'm not saying I don't know what to do with my energy. Like I said in my previous post, I end up donating the leftovers most times, which is a good thing as it helps us get closer to lvl 9, and we have % based shares on Sundays. So it helps me and the legion as a whole.
Like I said, I'm not for imaoize's idea, I was simply trying to point out that the few hundred energy used by the things you mentioned don't really make a big impact.

and I'm telling you it's not just a few 100 energy for the things I mentioned

hacking, sure 100 Hacks = 500 energy, not realy a big deal

abilityes
Trellith Influence (10 energy) o- can be used every 24 hours
Dark Aperture-Key (50 energy) and can be used 2 times pr day = 100 energy
Thraccti, Scruuge Defector (250 energy to train) - 20 hours (dont have the cost of using the actual ability as I still need a few ranks on it)
Apparitious II, Bane Familiar (250 energy) - 20 hours
VARA Interface (200 energy) - 48 hours
Bainar, Systems Cracker (500 energy) - 40 hours
Trovar Zane, Elite Tracer (250 energy) - 20 hours

+ race
Urbanize (Taltherian) 200 Energy - 40 hours
Erudition (Kronyn) 200 energy - 40 hours
Enrich (Mylarai) - 200 energy - 40 hours

that's around 1760 energy you can throw after abilityes, if you have them all and is Talth
and looks like we will get a new Ability from this chain Raix Transformation but where or not that also cost energy, is still unknown

and the same with the TC lab, Things add up farst
the limit is artis like, Spy Uplink Chassis (Uses Left: 888) that cant be traded
turning those into Polaron Emitter = 14 * 200 = 2800 energy, and another 14 * 400 = 5600 energy when I install them on planets
no, you cant use it on a daily basis to get rid of energy unless you have huge artifact production - but if you plane things, you you can use the Lab to drain quite a lot of energy when you need it


with my present energy bar, I can easily end up with 5.000 to 8.000 more energy then I need to rank when killing NPC's
and I never had any problems getting rid of that if/when I need to



but you are right, with the energy bar some players have where they can more or less autorank even on base donation (40 * rank in max energy or more)
theire is basickly nothing they can realy do to spendt all theire energy
