Hey all,

Some of my friends have mentioned that they have to pay over 5 billion to colonize a planet after 150+ planets. That's quite a bit. It got me thinking- why not cap the planet costs to roughly 3 billion tops? There is already this system in place for ship repairs capped at 200 million. Besides most of the best modules cost a couple billion each. So a good high end expense cap right there.

It will still be expensive to colonize new planets for the high levels, and double that for invading.

Thoughts?

I have 140 worlds and it cost me 5.5B to invade. This is a lot on top of the 13.9B upkeep and the models that are costing 20B +. Then on top of all that even, the cost of buildings. 600M + 10 aidonium for the ones that give you resources. And 500M + 50 aidonium for the cloaks. This makes your costs go up quick.

Yeah, it saddens me to think how many of my noble people will be working in the mines soon, just so my empire can continue to grow. They could all be great researchers or artifact finders, but alas, it's a cruel, cruel galaxy that will condemn most of them to spending their lives toiling away in the mines. : (

I won't be surprised if the 200th planet costs like 50 billion to colonize at this rate.

If planet costs are capped, it would allow more empire expansion, create more interesting PvP as more players will be able to have more planets, allow players to grow their mining income to afford all the other huge modules / building costs, and so on.

Imagine 150 planets. You need 3 of the +12 buildings to outfit a Very Large or Massive planet. Another one for Very Massive or bigger. Lets go with 3 as an average. That's 1.8 billion raw credits, then another billion credits for 2 of the best cloak structures. Add in a few hundred million for defense shields or attack structures. Then add in the mineral costs. Easily another billion.

Thats about 4 billion per good planet. Times that by 150 planets. You'd need 600 billion credits to outfit it all.

Then billions more for modules, and the upkeep. Easily 700+ billion for most high levels.

So if planet costs keep going up, it becomes economically and statistically ineffective to colonize new planets to build more mines to afford the 700+ billion costs. Imagine planets costing 50 billion each to colonize?

I like the general idea tho maybe not capped but at a certain lvl a slower rise in cost might work out. BUt hey either one would be very nice
