Post subject:  Suggestion for Battle tab for player vs. player

I wanted to suggest a way to help the balance for the battle tab against opponents player vs. player wise. I realize that there are many factors to consider such as the limited number of players when discussed in terms of ranks 300+. I was thinking that if there was a way to have players below 50 rank be allowed to only target ships within 10 ranks range above or below, 100 and below 20 ranks, 150 and below 30, 200 and below 40, 250 and below 50 ranks, and depending on the amount of players at 300+ (which should continue to rise) have opponents calculated to match them as close as possible determined by the maximum possible attack and defense the ship can carry and ship size *regardless if it is equipped or not. now that is only a suggestion for a basis of determination, I also believe there is a factor for stealth a ship carries that also determines how easily they will show up on the battle tab as well. I would believe that this would stabilize some of the statistics for players combat ratings and also challenge players to take the battle tab more seriously give it a more solid approach. I think others should post possible ideas to refine the battle aspect for player vs player. Im thinking in terms of making it more of a challenge and to make it a sense of accomplishment.

this was an idea i had for a future of battle as an idea:

this is what the idea is
most often people wont challenge and equal opponent due to perhaps the legion size for example a person in a 5 man legion up against a person in a 50.
my idea being if the battle tab is taken as a separate entity so only player vs player is accounted for.
I look at my battle tab i see opponents above and below my level, i look at them and see how i match up. I see one that looks like i can take them on so I attack and I defeat the person they can fight back and disable me as well without anyone being able to alert to legion so its just person to person.
if however I attack again and disable that ship from before again then legion can be alerted (the timer would be 8-12 hours for them to retaliate). this would give them a chance to get help if it becomes one sided.

this method would allow a person to gain back a point of disable and not cause a whole legion battle unnecessarily. it would be just person to person.

granted that if i hit a trap and exit out of attacking then they would disappear as usual. I just think it would make things more stable for game mechanics and statistics for players. people high ranked would be able to still challenge anyone lower. i mean come on if your at the top who are you gonna fight, but i believe they need a challenge too or it would just be meaningless clicking.

Perhaps there should be something put in place for them as well to make it more fun. the concept i came up with was that since there are fewer people to challenge them at their higher level. Perhaps if they challenge someone who is lower they can have npc's to supplement the difference of strength and make them on par as a cluster unit fighting. then if the person wants to retaliate if disabled they get the npc assistance for the one disable back (same timer 8-12 hours), if the lower ranked person persists the npc will not be around. the benefit for the higher ranked person will be a reward of artifacts money or research and of course a good challenge the reward for the person of lower rank is the same, not to mention the fun of fighting with a group of npcs against a higher ranked opponent.

Constructive ideas and suggestions are welcome and would be interesting.

Change it to White. And there is already a thing like this in place, the 40% factor. You can only see above and below your rank * 40%.

this is an idea for a suggestion of a way to make battle better not point out what is the status quo. suggestions to help improve are welcome.

on another note*

before switching to my new legion I had made one to help out lower level players, some were turned away from the game when they were repeatedly disabled by people 40+ ranks above them when they were only 50 levels and under. As far as i can tell sometimes this would be a difference of almost 3-4 times the attack strength. especially since new players do not have advanced research in weapons and defenses. I believe the creator would like to keep new players rather then spurn them and possibly lose sales.

Well, I agree. Narrow it down some. Maybe 25% or so.
