An outbreak of disease occurs, spreading across the galaxy. Travel is restricted to try to prevent the spread of the disease. Effects: NPC's commons have a 50% less chance of spawning, increasing uncommon and rare/extremely rare. Planets have a random chance to be infected, dropping population of the planet by 60% for one week. Planets have a random chance to double research production for one week. If a planet is infected, you may attempt a cure for 100k research points, 200 energy, and (insert artifact). If successful you gain an artifact that increases all production on a single planet (of your choice) by 10% for a week. New Rare NPC - Medical Supply ship. When killed you receive (still thinking on this one). Thoughts to improve and expand on this idea please. Thank you! |

Okay the NPC sounds pretty creepy. |

I like some of these thoughts. Like the Research Hospital, and using a transfer medical supplies instead of just killing the NPC. Along with finding infected ships and killing them, you could raid them for a virus sample first (make sure you use your biohazard gear:) Add another medal too, spend 1 Million research developing a cure. 15 points. |

Ship effect. Crew reduced by 20% for 1 day. They're sick, so they can't participate in raids or battle tactics or whatever it is they do. Working on writing up a full description for an event like this. |

First, "virus" might not be a very good choice, because virus, by the way they work, are extremely difficult to "cure" if possible at all, they are much easier to be inoculated against. At the same time, due to how it works in a genetic level, it would work differently(if at all) for different races. To be game wide, the best choice would be a parasite, which can certainly work on all organic races, and if it is a non-bio parasite of some sort it might even infect the non-organic races(or we can have different disease for different races) Second, to make this interesting, we should determine the cause of the disease. Natural or Engineered? Depending on that, the method of "fixing" the problem and interacting with the event would differ. If it is Engineered, then the natural path would be NPC hunt orientated, to kill the group that are spreading the disease and chances are, they will have cures on board you can take along with other interesting disease related artifact. On the other hand, a natural disease could be more research orientated and possibly have galaxy wide collaborations or at least legion wide ones to "find" the cure. Third, should planets be the only ones that can be affected or should player be able to be infected as well? The crew effect reduction idea is certainly interesting, but how does it come about? Randomly doesn't seem all that much fun(thou some degree of random occurrence as "seeds" could be interesting). Perhaps it can be caught by either interacting with infected planet, when fighting certain NPCs(especially in the engineered case, they are gonna shoot you with plagued shells) or possibly player interactions such as disable/raid. Note that even if a person is cured or immune to a disease, they can still be a carrier, so this means even if players cure themselves ASAP(if a method is provided), they might still spread the mayhem. |

Not that I dislike your thoughts on it Uy23e, but since when was this game a reflection of real life? lol |

It is my belief that games should be as realistic as possible to provide a more immersive experience. I don't like the concept of "just because". |

I'm thinking of making it a two phase, or multi-phase event. Like a biweekly that has a continuing storyline, but as an event. |

I like the idea that its a Bio Binary virus, that way it explains how all my crew are infected (since many of them are robots) a natural virius that has evolved to infect computers and AI's. I also love the idea of a galaxy wide research bin say 10 trillion reserch until the disease is cured. I also like the idea of say a 1% a day death rate, IE all crew on EVERYONES ships 1% die each day until the disease is cured. |

I'd probably say that the virus would be great to affect a person's ship, but not too drastically. It would be interesting if it weakened the crew, instead of getting it to start killing them off as others have suggested. Logically people would be less efficient in battle if their sick. Another idea is that when a raid critically fails or raid fails on a ship, crew have a higher chance of getting killed. |
