Upgraded badge structures

Just an idea, since currently red badges are totally useless once you have 4 cannons, how bout having the ability to upgrade the cannons you've gotten through the battle tab with additional badges? Say it takes 80 red badges to upgrade a cannon instead of 40. I know some other red badge uses have been suggested/or are forthcoming, but didn't know if this had been suggested before.

we desperately need more red badge uses. i would like being able to upgrade dominion cannons to mk 2 once you have all 4 you can upgrade em to 100 damage each for 10-12 space or something. on another note, badges could be used to buy an artifact to add a bonus to any module. i stated an idea a while back before badges were introduced about something like this. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4503&hilit=enchanting

The cannons should really be level based somehow, there need to be some sort of scaling. Those things are like adding sling shots too my ship.

Well like Tallguy said, an upgrade should come in handy.
What should happen is that the player needs to buy ALL the Dominion Cannons before it'll let them upgrade. Also, the upgrades are based on rank (you can upgrade the cannons at 100 ranks [rank 100/200/300 and so on.])
Another option is to have a planetary structure as both blue/yellow/green have them.
60 Red Badges: Dominion Station [Planet Structure - Size: 2, Attack: 200, Defense: 400, Invasion Defense: 400, Population: 200] Special Ability - After failed invasion planet regenerates 50% of maximum population. A sophisticated defense system designed to intercept and repel invasions. (Limit 1 per planet)
Great module for those who get invaded repeatedly. Now the Special ability is there to make the person(s) attacking the planet work for it. The other stats should be in-line with other unique defensive structures.

The other stats should be in-line with other unique defensive structures. I like the ability, but the combined attack, defense, and population I think is too overpowered.

Well the original idea was to use 80 red badges, 10 blue, 10 yellow and 1 green because of the high stats.
