I get alot of chassis of all kinds in my shipments - however having 50+ chassis of each type taking up cargo space when you won't every really need them, but still don't want to scrap them, gets abit annoying. I think there could be missions that use the chassis and then reward better chassis of the same type.

I like the idea of upgrading the chassis buildings, but I've got a silly question. If you can't use them, can't trade them, and keep getting tons of them, what exactly is the point of NOT scrapping them?

im all for that.
infinitly repeatable missions-
2x chassis gives 1 mkI 2x mkI gives 1 mkII 2x mkII gives 1 mkIII 2x mkIII gives 1 mkIV 3x mkIV gives mkV
mkI=2xchassis size2 mk2=2xchassis size1 mk3=3xchassis size 2 mk4=3xchassis size 1 mk5=4xchassis size 1
each mk 5 would require 48 chassis which i believe is not unreasonable. however, the actual mechanics are up to dan to decide.
I would just like to offer my support to this idea. +1!!
one mk5 requires 48 chassis total

this is interesting but I think the reason why dan limiteed the chasis on each planet is because of the possibility of having 69 phase cutters on a toxic planet.
or 75 warpgates on a dyson. but if this chasis would be limited to resource + 5 size one.. it would really be awesome.

i figure if dan implements this itll work the same as the stryll/shadin buildings. only the type limit of chassis would be able to be constructed.

Well, he just added a high level mission that does what you want: Upgrades an existing Spy Uplink structure on your planet to a Sha'jha Uplink, doubling its research bonus and tripling its cloak bonus. (For those bad at math, size 1, Research +2, Cloak + 140). It costs 8,000 energy per attempt, 25 completions for a total of 200k energy.
