ok, so my idea is to make it so you can fight other legions as a whole, not just PvP, and by fighting you get exp, where you can rank up your legion and maybe get more members, kind of a rough idea, but let me know what you think!

Like the idea, all actives gain experience. Mabey a 12 hr. "kidnap bouns" steal one random enemy player for 12 hrs. They are held hostage and contribute to the victors legion bonus.

have you not read dans message about legion bases? this is exactly what its going to be. you get a base, can target other bases as a legion, and if you destroy it before yours is killed you get silver badges, xp, and other secret stuff he hasnt revealed. if you upgrade your base you can put modules on to raise the max number in your legion, raise the max number of naps, a repair bay, etc.

Docking in the base prevents other players from attacking you. Your ship is physically inside a base, after all..

I love that idea, maybe once the base is attacked, you are able to be hit again?

maybe when the base hits a certain percentage in the hull, like 80%?

Technically, a legion of ships needs to break into the docking zone before they can attack you. To do that, they need to kill all of its shields and a certain amount of "gate hulls"

Never watched Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? Hell, the Dysonians would need to have a spare Dyson for all their Galaxy Destroyer ships... I think its silly to expect a base to hold 50 huge spaceships INSIDE. The resources required to create something like that are degrees more expensive than a "skeletal" structure with docking ports.

Then the cost to construct and maintain the base should reflect upon the size and power of the legion :P

MY POINT is that a DS9 type "starbase" makes more sense than an "enclosure" type. Everybody is talking about the protection of "being inside" the base and not being attackable, but then they forget that you would not be able to attack anyone else either and your ship stats should not count toward defending the base. Dan has been pushing MORE PvP lately (badges?) and is talking about more LvL action with the introduction of the bases. So it makes no sense whatsoever for him to create a base system that REMOVES ships from PvP/LvL. Maybe I should have started with the in-game reason why an enclosure isn't going to happen and why no one should assume they will be that type instead of the realistic reasons...

i agree with darth. it makes more sense to dock a ship externally than inside the base. in an enclosure if your base is destroyed any your inside then you get destroyed too. at least this way you can escape quickly.

i think the real protection is going to come from the pacifist government type, if your a coward like that.

I agree with the base structure completely, and I'd love to see that, and about the gov type, I think pacifist is going to give a bonus, like a calming amplifyer every so often or a bonus when you're not attacks instead of really removing yourself from PvP, just use a containment missle and you can hit them type of thing

I can imagine the Pacifist government type has all their truce effects immune to containment missiles, but lower attack verses players.

And I just realized:
Dan, when you implement this will it disband all current legions?

I beleive he said each current legion would have a chance to "choose" a gov type, but that's a good question, I doubt he'd do that, but this is a BIG overhaul

I don't know about you but if the base I'm hiding inside gets hammered by fire and sulphur, the first thing I would do is hop onto my ship and jet my ass outta there.

I was seeing this as kind of like a sepparate thing from legion bases, like 20% of your gained xp went towards your legion leveling up, and meybe u need higher legion levels before you can upgrade your base more.
