had an idea in physics today... what if there were three types of modules available at each level of completion. A Condensed module, the default modules we have now, and the Expanded version of the modules. this would only apply to researched modules, not NPC modules.

What it is is pretty much the condensed modules would take up less decks than the default ones we have now, but would have a higher upkeep. the expanded modules would have just the opposite effect. They would take up MORE deck space, but have less of an upkeep. this would suit different playing styles better then just the normal grow and research, while adding a bit of strategy into the game. you can either keep a smaller ship with higher upkeep, a normal ship as everyone does now, or a huge ship with less upkeep. as far as modifiers go, i was thinking 33% more for the condensed, with 25% less decks, whereas expanded would be 33% less with 25% more decks.

This idea is more for planet colonizing strategy, so higher players arnt restricted to 50 billion mining planets (i know i exaggerate) but can instead form a more strategic artifact/research ratio, whereas players who felt they should go the all engineer route can fit more modules on their ship without being restricted by rank points or lack of ship bots in the draw.

not sure... ive been asking for alot of module variation crap between my module 'enchanting' idea, my debris crafting/research tree collaboration, and now this expanded module idea, the whole system would be overhauled, but it would definitly be worth it. it would add new depth to the current modules we have and open up now opportunities for future additions. the only downside is it would be a 'big update' and im not sure wether i would prefer this or the moons idea more.

The best part of this is I could have a ship full of condensed modules because I can afford it.
