Ok.. a while back some of us were kicking around the idea of upgrading Gas worlds. A few ideas were tossed out, but nothing really seemed to stick. I came up with this at work today, though.
With an Anti-Gravity Installation applied (permanent passive bonus), you pick up +3 research, no change in planet size, and you're allowed to build installations normally banned on Gas worlds.
Anything that improves or upgrades Gas Planets would be welcome.. It's the only planet type along with volcanic planet type now that have no apparent upgrades.

Thats a very good idea +1 from me, i have some suggestions for volcanic, like Volcanic to Rock or something to do with cooling the volcanic, not turning it into a terra because it wouldnt have vegatation or water for that matter.
I posted a while back that high level population structures should be usable on gas planets as they are created in orbit so the having no ground to build on thing is rather moot. If a topopolis (sp?) is really build around the home star what the hell does it matter if I can't build on the surface of the gas giant?
what about this for an upgrade for a gas planet: Protostar
some new artifact is made up that adds density to a very massive gas planet causing it to begin nuclear fusion at its core.
this could be a extremly rare that comes with 10000 attack becaus of the corona and have a #&$# load of research. there could even be a mission chain or a new NPC that drops the arts needed to make it from the gas.
