How about making the legion base research tree common among all members of the legion?
Attach it to the base, not to the ship?
Would solve the possible issue of people with high research building the base and then dropping from the legion.
It would also allow anyone that wants to contribute to contribute.
Granted, the costs might go up...

+1 to this, kind of awkward having people at different levels, so maybe another tab on the legion base that has research and everyone can contribute like they do with upgrades, I LOVE IT!

Maybe tweak it so that both the high ranking player and the legion will stand to loose if the player left... not sure how this would be implemented though?

just would have to make the switch, maybe a transfer, ig your base is level 3, you get all the level 3 research, but none of the rest

Why not just leave the tech as it is when a top player that built the high modules leaves. The legion still takes advantage of this. I think loyalty is a counter to having a friend come in and build it all for you because you can only effectively use the modules if you are loyal to the legion.

well for the current system, you need to be with the legion a week to help them with their base, so the same should apply to the research tree.
