With the advent of the CT-Lab a lot of artifacts are needed for production. My idea would be to have "easy" discoveries that would allow artifacts needed by the CT-Lab to be compressed into single artifacts. Maybe a simple number like for every 10 you get 1 special artifact.

For example:

A Velox Thruster requires 100 Android Helmsmen and 200 Void Shells

Through discoveries a Legion could unlock Palletized Android Helmsman that would allow a player to spend 10 Android Helmsmen and 5 Energy (if that) to get 1 Palletized Android Helmsmen. The same could be said for Void Shells. The compressed version would be Void Generator.

The Velox Thruster would then only require 10 Palletized Android Helmsman and 20 Void Generators.

The items wouldn't be lost, if the artifact is "Used" then it would simply uncompress and give the original amount of artifacts back to the player.

What would a Velox Thruster do?

-1 if this has to be researched the way other formulas are research then this is worthless. :(

Also, I doubt there are very many people that can use the CT Lab that have problems with cargo space...

A Velox Thruster is already a blueprint in the CT Lab. He was using it as an example.

because each discovery costs an additional 2k research and you only have a 1% chance of success when you attempt a discovery. to sacrifice several hundred thousand research points just to be able to compress 10 androids when you have over 20k cargo, seems rather unnecessary.

Heres your way around the CT discovery. Just have it as a side research project. Just like how the whole legion upgrades the base have it so that these side projects cost like 100 or 200k to research. These compressors could be one of them. Since dan caved to the big spenders and throttled back MSP drops this would let those that missed the MSP frenzy days have a chance of ever saving up enough arts to do some of these and still be able to save up the Kru or Aid required for mods. But the catch here would be that you can only use these compressed arts towards your CT creations. To make it simple for Dan and the others they could just add a button that requires you to use all compressed or none compressed.

Either way I would love to see some side research projects for the CT Lab. Throw some EM requirements in there why not.

Is why I said "easy". More often then not you don't get anything. Why not add something that would allow you to at least get something. Just because the new artifacts have a 1% chance it doesn't mean by adding things that have a higher percentage chance would dilute the chance to get the new artifacts.

That's not a bad idea either. I just think that the more you get out of your research points the better. I think the CT-Lab has almost boundless possibilities.

Yes, it would, because once you found it your discovery costs would be 2000 research more. Having useless discoveries makes it more difficult to get good discoveries.

Then, let's not make them increase the cost. Problem solved.

I think of it this way, we already have one or two that we get an improved item from doing a repeatable mission. So just make them upgrades and use the mission idea.

There's a difference between an upgraded item and "palletized" item.
