Hey all,

I've been thinking about this idea. I'm sure this has been asked before. I posted my idea in my legion and they encouraged me to post it here. So here goes...

I've just unlocked the +12 buildings, and as I have 79 planets, and generally can fit 2 or 3 +12's on them depending on how large the planets are. So minimum is 79 planets x 2 buildings x (600 million per +12 building and 180 million for 10 aidonium per building)... so 158 buildings x 780 million. That comes out to roughly 123 billion credits. My idea is that instead of destroying planet buildings and rebuilding new structures, you pay credits to upgrade +10's directly to +12's. Or from any lower level to higher level.... paying the differential in cost.

Example:

+8 building = 50 million credits + 34 million credits for kurenite. 84 million credits total.
+10 building = 200 million credits + 85 million credits for kurenite. 285 million credits total.
+12 building = 600 million credits + 180 million credits for aidonium. 780 million credits total.

So here's how my idea works....

+8 to +10? You pay 285 - 84 million credits... so pay 201 million credits to upgrade +8 to +10 instead of full 285 million.
+10 to +12? You pay 780 - 285 million credits... so pay 495 million to upgrade +10 to +12 instead of full 780 million.
+8 to +12? You pay 780 - 84 million credits.... so pay 696 million to upgrade +8 to +12 instead of full 780 million.

Thoughts? Feedback?

I think your idea is just trying to save credits. You're supposed to have to pay 285 mil additional credits. Not like that's bad or anything, I would love that, but I doubt it would be implemented.

I suggested this because I know a few other games that utilize the "Pay differential to upgrade" costs. Civilization series and Alpha Centauri, plus a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

Besides, I doubt this would be game breaking since upgrading a +8 to a +12 would be almost as expensive as buying the +12's outright. 84 million out of 780 million. Almost 10% off, which is a small amount.

Plus it would somewhat reflect the idea of upgrading technology and such. It'd be like upgrading 1950's factories to 2010's factories.... cheaper to upgrade existing structures than to tear the whole thing down to nothing then build it from the ground up. There's a reason why corporations, nations, and people try to explore retrofitting and upgrading existing stuff before trying for a full from-the-ground-up build.

True...I guess what I'm just trying to say is that Dan already set the prices for things where he wants them. I doubt that the prices will be lowered, especially after so many other players have already dealt with it as it is.

The prices would be the same. The discount itself would come from the differential between the two buildings.

Also when upgrading, you would have to consider space. A Large planet with 51 space can hold 3 +10 buildings (51 space), but can't hold 3 +12's (54 space). So you'd have to scrap a +10 building, and when you scrap a building, you don't get the discount or anything. Then when you want to build a new +10 or +12 building later on, you will need to pay the full price for a new one.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

Okay, I guess, but I still don't think it will be put in. :P
