Disables should stop production timer for both base and ship

Since base combat is coming out soon, it got me thinking about disables in general. Obviously I don't know what Dan has planned for the finished product, but I was thinking that when a base is disabled it stops the production timer. If the base is disabled then obviously its not functioning. Once repaired the daily timer production timer continues again. This would apply to ships as well, again your ship is disabled therefore it is not working on collecting your hourly planet production or research. As soon as you repair it, the timer continues again. I don't believe this concept would unbalance the game, in fact, I think it would enhance the game in many ways including: 1. Really force legions into more diplomacy and adhering to their treaties. 2. Enhance the pvp combat, makes you want to protect your ship more, and if you are doing dirt like going for combat badges you have less incentive to stay disabled until you fall of their ship logs. 3. It makes some features like the base module auto repair or friendly legion repair much more crucial. 4. When a legion goes to war, it really is war with strong consequences. You get alerted by a 50+ legion then you will really start to feel the pain of battle when you can't get your production going because you are constantly being disabled. Team play becomes extremely important in protecting each other and planning your attacks. Also the disable count becomes very important offensively. "Do I stay at 0 disables or do I do dirt and raise it? (lol) These are just a few of the enhancements that popped into my mind. I'm sure there would be many more beneficial reasons to have disables stop the production timer on both bases and ships. This is facebook so you better call some friends for backup!

Your planet mines and research stuff. So even when your ship is disabled, your planets are still producing.

in the case of your base being disabled: i believe it looses a certain percentage bonus to production.... this would be accurate as the base would have to reduce production because of casualties or to under go repairs.. as for your ship: if you are disabled, it dosent apply that your ship is destroyed, just in no fighting condition. however, mineral and artifact production does come from planets/colonies so your ship being disabled would, IMHO, only effect your on board scientists. the only way i could see your ship being disabled, actually effecting your production is that you not be able to receive shipments from your planets, as your kinda dead-ish i understand what your getting at, it would be an interesting way of doing things

Your planet is working but not your ship. Can't store those artifacts in the storage bay when you are missing your hull. In fact you wouldn't a storage bay. Anyway I digress, I was just incorporating some idea of the delay on collecting those resources when your ship is down.

+ one but only if u are alerted to me 24/7.. - 1 if not ,doing this would cause sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much hate. being disabled is a what ev but if my production was halted by some one cause of it I would grab my tm and zero them. Then the frustration people will feel would be insane. One a side note why are all the suggestion mean hurtful ones, I would love to see some that encourage friend ship and working to gather, like a art that if you dont do any harm full acts to others for 24 hour you get one hour of x2 production. Lest just be friends

Lest just be friends It helps to get a fresh perspective on an idea; and this why I love sharing information with people. I went back and reread my suggestions and was like "hmmm, most of those are offensive in nature", but, in my mind I thought I was being positive (what does that say about me right). I had just finished reading a few posts on the forum about people getting bullied and where an aggressive ship was alerted to a legion, but since disables aren't that detrimental (other than stats and repair cost), the alerted ship just continued attacking the first ship. Now if you compound getting raided, along with a freeze on receiving planet production while disabled, it might cut back on some of the random violence. Don't get me wrong, I like random violence, however this is a game built inside of a social networking engine. So, again in my attempt to be positive, I was thinking that this would benefit the people who were being active, socially networking, and making positive alliances vs just coming in and spewing hate on everyone. This has already been great to hear some of the different view points. So, if anything comes to mind please share it. I do hope Dan sees this whether it happens or not.

There definitely needs to be more restrictions as to what you can do after you've been disabled. The current cost is too low and encourages people to just stay disabled when they've been shared to another legion.

Its good tactic. Because it helps your stats. Repair disable 2 .. rinse repeat.

Under the current system, yes, I agree, it IS a good tactic, and one I've personally used on a few occasions. That's because, while disabled, I can still do a majority of the missions, and my production levels are unaffected, minus the amounts removed by hacks and raids. If being disabled meant you lost a percentage of your hourly production or, at the least, you weren't allowed to use the research or turn in your mineral or artifact points while disabled, it would give a more significant cost should one choose to stay disabled.

last time I checked a ship with a bunch of wholes in it can better be used as storage just toss things into the wholes. Base production already a thing for that and maybe the daily don't know ships I'd not like 1 cause a lot of hate 2 those that are on more will disable everyone and they alone will get there goods making it so they can do it even more. Those are my thoughts.

Those are my thoughts. Excellent point, however don't forget that there is an aggression point system already in place. If someone is actively playing, and they are cruising around the galaxy blasting every bipedal race they come across, then they are going to accumulate a large number of disables they can suffer themselves. The galaxy will rise up against that player and hamper the productivity of that ship slowing down their progression. When empror Palpetine and Vader were flying around in the Death Star blasting planets and being bullies, the galaxy rose up against them and wrecked their space station. It wasn't like they just laid low for a day or 2 and still collected minerals and artifacts to be back in business busting up the galaxy a few days later. Nah, it wasn't until The Return of the Jedi a few years later that they had enough resources to rebuild the death star because their productivity was slowed (yeah I went there). The idea is to make people more cautious about being disabled. Right now for example, if you steal a planet and flux it, then all you have do is stay disabled until you fall off the ship logs, all the while enjoying the full productivity of your new mega planet. My suggestion would either prevent people from immediately enjoying their newly mega rich planet if they decided to just stay disabled until the heat passes. Or they can keep repairing until they are zeroed out themselves. Anyway, I hope all of this makes some type of sense lol.

If at war their ship keeps getting disabled, and their production stops, then their income stops. If they have expensive modules installed, repairing their ships would cost a lot. If a legion really had it in for someone (like in a war) they could keep alerting them, disable them, let them repair, then disable them again - so they end up with no rpoduction for days, and money getting less and less, until they have no money to repair and are effictively out of the game. Good way to get rid of people i think!!

this was already suggested by chris. it didnt get alot of support, and wasnt put into the game. i dont think dan wants to penalize peoples resources, because its hard enough to pay upkeep as it is once youre high enough level.

How about: planet production timer for minerals and artifacts set to 2 hours(Your ship is in bad condition but not destroyed so it would collect resources slower, but your planets would be producing the same amount) and when you repair it resets to what the timer was before as long as that is a smaller number than what you had left in the 2 hour timer. Research is unaffected, I don't think those 100 scientists on your ship are doing your entire empire's research, plus I would think your crew would be sent away from the ship while it is in repairs.
